Didja ever notice . . .

Recommended Posts

I'm closing in on 120 pounds lost, while I am a far cry from reaching my goal I find that I am finally seeing myself as a slender person. I was a bit different before as I REALIZED I was fat but had a mental picture of myself as being thin, now the physical reality is catching up.

People I used to admire as being thin suddenly seem to have a lot more paunch then I used to remember them having. I used to glance at them and say to myself "If only I was that thin", now that I am quite possibly thinner than they are (I carry my weight amazingly well, always had) they seem so much larger.

My mind is a funny thing.

Hm, I can't say I've noticed that....I have a friend who seems bigger to me now than she did last year, but I actually wouldn't be surprised if she indeed put on 5-10 lbs, because she's mentioned lately that she wants to lose some fat, and has even been joining me on some runs occasionally. But it's not like most people suddenly seem huge or anything like that.

I have always paid attention to "fat" people. Constantly comparing myself to other's sizes, and now I think I notice even more. It's not hard to do when there are so many people overweight and the problem it's becoming for so many in this country. I tell people my goal weight and they tell me I am crazy, but I think because so many people are overweight now we don't think of lower weights being ok. I feel bad for the people I see with such huge amounts of fat they need to loose, because I know how they feel! Wish I could help more people with this struggle!

I just feel sorry for them. At a starting point of BMI 32 I only know a glimmer of how uncomfortable that it. And that's enough for me. I almost feel guilty that I got WLS surgery and feel so good-I want that for everybody.

After only 14 weeks I'm surprised at how much food people eat-just normal weight people.

I think I understand, and I have a feeling I will be the same way. As I am right now... I know that I am obese in my mind... but I don't see myself that way. I often am shocked when I walk past a full-size mirror. I think "ugh, is that really me??"... so I can imagine when I am finally starting to lose this weight that my perspective is going to shift as well.

Hi, I notice heavy people now much more. I also like you saw myself as thinner then I was at my highest and now I don't think I see how much weight I have lost.

I don't notice that people look bigger so much. I am still awestruck by the amount of food people eat. I think I probably notice how much food heavier people eat more than I used to.

Well I was ticking along "thinking" I looked pretty darn good. . I'm 6 feet tall, very large boned and weigh 200lbs and wear 16/18 . . not too bad huh. . . UNTIL!!!! my daughter took a picture of me this past weekend. . I looked at it and couldn't believe how "hugh" I really am. . I was really disqusted with myself. . I couldn't believe it. . . I just stared at that picture. . . so now I'm on Adkins diet totaling maybe 5 carbs a day. . . UGH. . . life sucks :P I can't imagine how bad I must have looked 150 lbs heavier if I look this way now!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
