Greek yogurt tastes a bit like sour cream only less sour.

Greek yogurt tastes like vomit...unless you sweeten it. Stevia and sugar free vanilla Syrup works great. I tried so many times to like it and hated it until I learned this!

I love cottage cheese :) It has a very mild taste. I don't compare it to regular cheese though... its in its own class for me. I personally do not like it with fruit but I love it either straight or mixed with triscuit thin crisps... I haven't had surgery yet though so I'm not sure if the thin crisps are a good idea or not. But, I definitely think it is at least worth a try. At most grocery stores they sell cottage cheese in 4 packs for a couple of dollars. Just be careful to watch the expiration date, they don't last very long.

As for greek yogurt I have never had the plain kind and I don't mind it. It is not my favorite though because I always get a bad case of dry mouth after eating it. It is very creamy and smooth though, and many people like it a lot. I know the plain kind is often used in cooking. I used the vanilla kind in smoothies. Again, its worth a try though. You can buy single serve sizes just to try.

Is cottage cheese sweet, sour, tangy, ...... ??? Do I sound like a dummy?? Am I the only one who has never had it??blink.gif

It is very mild, i guess similar to mozzarella cheese. Without anything added in it is not sweet, sour or tangy. It is very neutral which is why some people like it paired with fruit and jellies or jams, while other people (me!) like it with salty stuff like crackers. Now, unlike cream cheese or yogurt it is not a smooth texture but I really like it that way. Just try it! If you don't like it then you know :)

Cottage cheese is like chunky cheese in a suspended liquid. The texture of it kills me. I can't eat it.

But I do enjoy the greek yogurt. I will second that it tastes like less sour, sour cream. And you can add tons of things to it to make it more tasty, like Torani syrups. Put it on southwestern omelets or try putting it in other recipes that require sour cream for less calories and more Protein.

Personally, I had never had Greek Yogurt before my surgery. I looked at the Protein when I was on the mushy part of my diet and said "I gotta try this." I love it now, especially with fruit. It's a regular part of my morning Breakfast.

By the way, Epicurious just a taste testing and I pretty much agree with their results.

Is there anyone who likes plain yogurt that can compare it to the plain greek yogurt? Do they taste the same? I like plain yogurt and can eat it ok, so I wonder if there is a taste difference between it and plain. Cottage cheese, I can tolerate, but it's a texture thing.

I see 16 carbs in my morning Trader Joe's Greek Style Non-Fat Yogurt with Blueberries. Most of that is added. I understand that Fage Classic Greek Yogurt has 6 carbs per 7 oz serving.

This is the only way to see...for yourself. Don't get turned off by your first spoonful. Try adding different flavors, heating and such. I love them both mixed with savory or sweet additions, the cottage cheese with spaghetti sauce and parmesan, heated is nice....or with fruit salad... the yogurt mixed with french onion Soup mix as a veggie dip or to top cooked veggies or meat.... a spoonful in an omelet, I like cottage cheese blended until smooth, wtih a little granola or fruit, you can add chopped cucumbers (seeded) into the yogurt with some mint for an indian salad... Both are such good sources of Protein and Calcium, give them a good try before giving up!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
