Books for Your Mental Health

Recommended Posts

I just posted these books in a separate thread but thought others may also benefit from them as well. I have been seeing a therapist for my bipolar disorder over the past few years and she has been instrumental in helping me cope with the changes in my mind and body since the sleeve. There are two books she suggested to me that I will recommend to other fellow sleevers who struggle with eating and mental health:

Mindless Eating: Why We Eat More Than We Think by Brian Wansink

Changing Our food, Changing Ourselves: Women, Food, Relationships, & Culture by Karen Burke

These have been very insightful and have helped me gain a better understanding of why we eat.

If anyone wishes to talk about mental health issues in a more private setting, please feel free to PM me.

I'd also like to recommend "Overcoming binge eating," but that's most fitting for those that have not yet been sleeved, as it features relatively high-calorie meal plans. But even if you don't do the diet and log, it's still an interesting read.

Dr. Stephen Gullo's "Thin Tastes Better." He has some helpful strategies for understanding why and when you eat.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
