Does living with someone who had WLS give you an advantage?

Recommended Posts

My mother had "stomach stapling" when I was four. I grew up with her being "different" from other mom's. She ordered from the kids' menu, she often got sick if she drank too soon after eating. She used her tool pretty effectively and I saw the day in, day out life of a person with WLS.

I think this has given me an advantage. I have not once asked "what did I do to myself?" and have not once regretted surgery. Granted, I did a LOT of research that did prepare me, but I think the psychological aspects have been easier for me because of my Mom.

What do you guys think?

I haven't lived with a WLS person, and have never even met anybody who has had WLS, but never ever has any negative thoughts or feelings crossed my mind (apart from feeling a bit guilty on all the money spent) and I never once had the what have i done to myself feeling or regret. But just as you said I did to a LOT of research in getting ready for my surgery, maybe it's that, or maybe it's just a personality thing?

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
