I have barely had an appetite since surgery. I've been getting in my Water and Protein goals. Suddenly today I am VERY hungry. Tummy is growling and everything. And the left over pizza my family ate for dinner last night is causing me MAJOR cravings. So far, only protein and thinned down pudding for me, but my restriction seems to be much less today than yesterday. Is this normal? I was kinda hoping I'd never feel this hunger again. Trying my best to stick to liquids, but OMG I want pizza so bad. Oh... and I started my period. Perhaps Aunt Flo has something to do with this new craving??

I hear that as you are able to eat more, you feel more restriction. I have not had my surgery yet, so can't really tell you, but, do not eat that pizza!!

Keep doing what you are doing and be strong! This too shall pass!

Every week that goes by is another week of healing and you will notice changes in capacity and appetite. I never really feel hungry, but I can sometimes feel empty - like I need some food to fill up. If you are clear for full liquids, try drinkable yogurt. Lots of Protein. If you are eating pudding, have you tried a little bit of cottage cheese, chewed up really well?

You might need to leave the room when other people eat for a while. These frist couple of weeks are the toughest. Hang in there!

You still have hunger hormones in your system, it take a while for them to "run out". Hunger can be a sign of thirst or acid also. I am at 13 weeks, and my hunger is just starting to go away. I think most folks it goes earlier, but not all....aunt Flo may be asking for a snack for sure....

There are many others on here that know much more about this than me, but I remember reading in a different post that after surgery your tummy is quite swollen. As it heals the swelling reduces, therefore you may feel less restriction than early on.

I was the SAME way. Stay strong! My hunger cravings have been slowly fading away. Also make sure that you're not just mentally hungry! Lots of liquids!

I'm 6 days out and have really strong hunger pangs too...nothing craving wise yet, but man it's hard to not want to put something more substantial in my mouth. I think that may be residual feelings from pre-op and the body still needs time to adjust to us being in starvation mode for more than a day or two. Good luck! I can't wait until I'm on full liquids next week and I can incorporate milk, cottage cheese, and pudding...it's going to feel like HEAVEN! :)

Glad someone else is going through this! I am on full liquids and I really didn't think I'd have to worry about hunger. Well, the ol' demon is here again. As someone mentioned, I just want more substantial food. Tired of sweet shakes. I had some cottage cheese. (3tbls) and was surprised how easily it went down. I guess I was expecting some resistance. Hopefully, this will pass. Hang in there, and I'll try to do the same. I know what you mean about the pizza. It's getting more difficult to be around my family at meal time. It was easier preop if you can believe that.

From what I have read (not from experience- I am not sleeved yet) the liquids and full liquids and even soft foods can just go through you quickly and do indeed sometimes lead to hunger. It seems that once you start eating solid food- that is when you will really know you have a sleeve. In addition you have hunger hormone still for a while.

One thing I know is the work on our part doesn't stop- ever. Sigh. The sleeve just gives us a better chance of succeeding.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
