Shopping in the "Regular" size places

Recommended Posts

I keep forgetting that I can do that. For 20 years I always headed to the woman's section or Lane Bryant or Fashion Bug places. I keep forgetting I can go most any where now!

As I had stated before I bought a bike and I am pretty darn serious about it so while at the bike shop I was able to buy a pair of biking pants right off the rack,, just blew my mind! Then tonight I went out to get a new pair of tennis shoes and I have lost a shoe size and gone from a wide with to a B width! Blows my mind! I went to Dick's sporting goods, in the past I was intimidated to even walk into a sporting goods place.

I got the Reebock easy toner shoes, and I said what the heck and bought a pair of easytone pants too! What I still cant wrap my head around is being able to walk to a rack in a sporting goods store and buy a pair of anything having fit, not to mention using the clothes to actually work out in!

There is just SHEER joy with being able to walk into ANYWHERE and find something that fits that isn't a PLUS or an XXL, or a 3X...truly amazing! I LOVE IT!

I was just thinking about shopping today...I have been shopping in the same basic stores for years because they had the concealing options. I don't even know where I'll want to shop! The options seem overwhelming from here in 2X land...

Shopping is such a new experience. I was able to buy a few new summer tops at the golf store (they must think fat people do not play golf). It now takes me longer to check out the clothes as there is so much more to look at instead of the small section of plus sizes. I am loving it. Keep up the great work!

I'm not gonna lie, shopping kind of freaks me out now. Forever I have wished that I could just go into a store and buy all those cute things off the rack. Now I am so overwhelmed that I can hardly stay in the store and look at everything. I just bought some new addidas shorts and a cute top from Gordman's. I stuffed it in my cart thinking I know this won't fit me right now but maybe later it will......got home and tried it on and it fit! Just can't wrap my mind around sizes without an X in front of them!

I hear you all! I went in to Target the other day and my friend talked me in to trying on a pair of "skinny jeans", yes you heard it right, "skinny jeans". I reached for a size 16 and she said, "I bet you could wear a 14". With me having to shop in the plus size dept. for so many years, I though, "yeah right"! I went ahead and tried them on, and guess what? They fit!!!!! I went with the 16, because the 14 were still a little snug. It felt so awesome to be able to shop in the normal womans' size dept. I was so confident at that point, that I tried on a size large t-shirt and low and behold it also fit! I ended up completing the outfit with a new pair of flats that were a half size smaller than before. I didn't want to leave the place! When I got home I tried it all on for the hubby and he thought I looked so sexy! Mission accomplished! It was a great day at Target, can't hardly wait to go back! :D

I can't wait for that day. Instead of shopping for accessories with my thin friends I would actually try on clothes with them. I can't wait!!!

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
