Stalls do happen from time to time. Its just your body trying to figure out what is going on. You should take measurements for the next time you stall to see that you are losing inches but not weight. I know they are frustrating but soon enough it will break and you will be on your way again.

Hi Hip-

I was in the same boat as you. I actually ddn't lose a single pound week 2 or 3. But, I stayed the course and have dropped crazy weight in the weeks that followed (45 pounds in 6 weeks- 30 of the those pounds came in weeks 4,5 and 6). I guess the moral of the post is to stay focused on the end goal, eat and exercise right and things will eventually shake out the way they are supposed to. Granted, saying all that still doesn't make the frustration any easier to manage when that damn scale won't move! :)

Good luck!

Amanda

I am right there with you. I only lost 7 lbs since surgery on march 15 and have not lost a pound since. I hope this stall ends soon. I am starting to think I did all of this for 7 lbs. I will be 5 weeks out tomorrow. I even go up a pound or two every other day, then come back down. This is so frustrating.

Step away...from the scales and nobody gets hurt! Lol. Sorry y'all, i know it is terribly frustrating! I've been in a 5 month stall, but I'm pre-op. That makes it easier for me to just give up, and pig out!!! I haven't done that but I will be happy when I'm sleeved and have a little more control over portions when i get in that mode of thinking that I'm depriving myself for nothing.

Use a tape measure or try on smaller clothes. Another thing thats amazing is how even pro-op i don't have to stress about where the waitress is going to sit me if i go out to eat and the anxiety of not being able to fit in a booth. Cuz I can fit easily now! So look at your non scale victorys too, not just the numbers on a scale!!

I had a horrible stall from week 2 through week 5. I am hearing that stalls are common. I just kept at my plan and tried to keep focused on the fact that my clothes were fitting so much better. The scale is so not my friend!! It hasn't been for a long time!

What I am finding, being 7 weeks post-op, is that I will loose a pound one day and gain it back the next, then on day 3, it drops off for good. I think this yo-yo effect is common too!

Try to focus on the fact that your clothes will fit better very soon. Stalls are hard and very disheartening! I started to get depressed at first because I went through all the trouble to get the surgery and for what?? To stall on my weight-loss! It's hard not to beat yourself up. BUT take it from me, the stall will pass and you will resume your weight loss.

You can conquer this!

I'm in the same boat. I lost about 9 pounds in the first week, and haven't lost since. I was talking to my surgeon today and he said that this weight loss isn't going to be a steady decline, it's going to be more like stairs. We're going to lose, stall, lose, stall... which is frustrating but he said as long as it's coming off, we have to be proud of that! :D I'm right there with ya.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
