Having a few bad days...

Recommended Posts

Up until this point everything has been pretty great.

Then last week (two weeks and one day post op) I had to put my dog to sleep. Then I had to drive 4 hours to see my surgeon for my post op two week visit and 4 hours back home. By Sunday my stress level was through the roof and bam got hit with a nasty Migraine which included lots and lots of vomiting. The next day I had a follow up migraine and more vomiting. On top of all of this I'm on my third period in three weeks, this one seems to be bound and determine to leave me completely bloodless.

So I'm very very shaky, dizzy and some what sick to my stomach. Trying to get in fluids and some Protein. When it rains it pours?

Hi, I'm so sorry to hear about everything you're going through. Losing a dog's really upsetting.

Have you thought about going on some form of contraceptive to control your periods? On the pill you can tri-cycle (ie run 3 packets back to back) and you won't get a period until the end of the 3rd packet (so after 63 days at least if not longer). Your period should also be shorter and lighter.

If you're not up to taking the pill then you could try the contraceptive injection. You have it once every 12 weeks and I'm not getting periods at all since I've been on it (only 4 months so far).

Oh hun, it sounds just horrible ((HUGS)) I get massive Migraines and take prescriptions for them, including Phenergen (sp?) to stop the nausea. I imagine the dizziness is from dehydration from all that vomiting L Not good. I have heard that the surgery will wreck havoc on a cycle; causing multiple or more severe cycles – thusly, increasing your chance for a Migraine. I hope you feel better soon and try to get some liquids in to help with the dizziness.

Really tough couple of days there for you! So sorry to hear it. You are doing the right thing with the fluids, definitely work on getting in as much as you can. Protein will help too if you can get (and keep) any down. I'm sending all good wishes your way.

Oh, you poor thing! My heart just breaks for you. Putting down your dog (your baby) is one of the hardest things to go through. And with the surgery and now migranes? Well, I can't even imagine!! I hope this passes very quickly for you. So sorry about your baby. :(

Hey PCOS_Chick-

What a suck week! One way to view it, is that your due for a few good weeks. :)

I also suffer from PCOS and the massive weight-loss has wreaked havoc on my cycle. I had actually gotten to a point where with the right birth control I was running like clockwork. Since surgery that all went to hell in a handbasket. I read on here that a lot of estrogen is stored in fat and that gets released as we drop the pounds. This could be what's giving you grief in that area.

As a dog lover who had to put down her 17 year old dog on January 10th, I really feel your pain there as well. Again, sucks. No nice word for it.

*Hugs*

Amanda

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
