Excited, anxious, scared.......normal??

Recommended Posts

Hi all!! I'm new-obviously. My name is Lisa and I live in New Jersey. I have my first visit on June 29th and then July 3rd. I have done 3 months of research and I've come to the conclusion that this is for me. And by reading some posts I feel it works if you let it!?! I have to admit I have a mixture of emotions going on that I think are normal as with any life changing event but WOW!! I am ready for this change, ready for a new beginning but you know ther's always that question in the back of your head. I'm 25 years old and I wonder if I'm scared of surgery or if I'm scared what would happen if I don't get the surgery. All posts I've read are very positive and I enjoy all views, if someone can write back with a piece of mind I would be forever grateful.:help: Lisa

Hi Lisa,

I'm scheduled for July 11 pending insurance approval. Your attitude is exactly like mine. I'm very excited but at the same time very nervous. I'm nervous about the surgery, major change, lifestyle, etc. I know in the long run it will be the best thing. I'm 41 and I'm 65 pounds overweight. I would like to lose a total of 75 pounds. I have two children and a great husband who mean the world to me. I quick smoking 15 years ago when I found out I was pregnant with my first child and I never looked back. I knew if I didn't quick smoking I wouldn't be around long enough to watch my children grow. It's the same thing with weight. The problem was, I substituted my cigarettes for food. And here I am today- very heavy and very upset at myself for getting to this point. If I don't get this weight off, I'm going to have more problems in the future. You said it well. Your scared of what is to come if you don't have the surgery. You're right. You're also very young. That's exactly the way I feel. I want to live a healthy and long life. God willing.

Good Luck Lisa. Keep reading and researching, researching, researching. You can never get enough.

God Bless.

Emily

Hi Lisa,

I went through the same thing. After researching for about a month I decided I wanted to for my health. I was banded on May 29,have lost 22 lbs and feel so much better!I had heard the negative side of it but decided I would go for it. I don't regret it. Good Luck!

I think it is perfectly normal to have these emotions. This is a really big deal and I waffled around for a long time. I probably could diet *one more time* but I don't see that the pattern would be any different. Each time I lost weight, I swore that I would never ... ever let it come back. And of course it did - with friends. I checked with my doc's office and they said the same thing. I sounded perfectly normal. And so are you.

Lisa

I am 25 years old also, and I am more afraid of what will happen to me if I don't lose weight. I have already wasted some of my precious life in doors afraid to do things because people stare and make fun on me. It is time for me to make a change. I have read and understand all the risks and I am ready to take a chance to have a normal life. I am still in the initial phases! Good Luck and keep us in the loop! The not yet banded need support too!! :)

You will see this 1000 times or more on this board but I'm gonna say it one more time: This is the best thing I ever did for myself and I LOVE MY BAND! Just do it. You will not regret it.

Welcome & congratulations. You are SO normal! And that's great because you don't want to have any surgery just on a whim. It's good to be a little anxious. But it is well worth it. Let me say it again "This is the best thing I ever did for myself & I LOVE MY BAND!". I was back to work (desk job) in 5 days and I was 50 at the time. You youngsters heal faster. Never had a bit of trouble other than I had a rash from the tape he used over the incisions, no spitups, nothing. Can't hardly even see the scars a year later.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
