I am two weeks out from surgery and I am still having gas issues. Every time I take a sip if liquid, no matter how small, I get this air bubble that come s up and presses against my chest. It make drinking veer hard. This also happens when I eat. The dic said this is normal and will go away, but I need a little reassurance.

I started a topic about this when I was about two weeks out called, "Sip, burp, sip, burp" because that was all I seemed to do. Every swallow was followed by a burp. It goes away, thankfully, otherwise I could never go out in polite company. I think mine started to decrease around week four, and now I burp less than I did before surgery.

Sad thing is, I can't even burp...it just comes up and presses against my chest. It is so painful and happens when I eat too.

Yep it goes away, I actually posted the same question back when I was a week out. I still burp a lot and there all kinds of gurgling going on, bu tI guess that is the norm now.

I have the SAME feeling just about every time I drink. I found warm Fluid seems to go a little easier for some reason. It's so hard for me because I LOVE Water and love to gulp it and now I simply can't! I think it will get easier, but maybe you should try warm water or tea and see if it helps. And take tiny sips, like a tablespoon at a time and wait 5 - 10 min then do it again. Who knew this would be so time consuming?!?!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
