Might have been a bad idea....Lemon???

Recommended Posts

So, yesterday I wasnt feeling well and stayed in bed most of the day. I had a Protein shake but I didnt eat any food. Around 11pm I ate a little more than half a lemon. I sucked the juice, and chewed a few pieces but didnt swallow most of the inside of it. Around 130am I had the rest of it. Again, mostly just sucking the juice out with a little bit of salt. About 10 minutes later I started getting this weird pain that I've never had before in my stomach. It was like a pulsating, stretching/burning/pinching feeling. I drank a gulp of Water and waited for it to hit my stomach. Same feeling once it hit. Of course in my head, Im thinking this is a leak. The acid from the lemon on an empty stomach may have messed up my staple line. Im dying. Well...I ate some crackers and a peice of light cheese and waited...nothing. No more pain at all last night. Today Ive felt the pain a few times. I ate Breakfast and had a snack and dont seem to be in any serious pain.

But....should I be concerned???

Anyone gone through this before?

You should be fine. I sometimes would have a pain or two and panic as well. I think sometimes the pain was from my incisions. The biggest sign of a leak is fever. If you have a fever, you should go to the hospital right away. I hope you recover well. I still remember those first few weeks and how hard they could be. It is all worth it, so hang in there!

OMG!!!! I just post a new topic asking the same thing!!!!! I am 21days post op, this weekend I went to a party and had something I shouldn't have had (I tend to forget I was sleeved when I am talking and hanging out with people) I have had this pinchy feeling as well, I too am freaking because it's been 2days and I get that pinchy feeling every few hours!

I am glad to know if it's a leak then we would have a fever, I thought I ripped my incision and I am leaking, lol.

That is what I get for eating like a fatty, well it was just one bite of a tostada, the bite was like a mouse size bite. Please keep me posted, hopefully your pinch pain feeling goes away soon!!!

It is so hard to change our minds about eating! I am 21 days post op as well and I still fight my mind about hunger. I have been working really hard to try and eat about every 2-3 hours a small Protein meal. I can't do the shakes, so I have to use real food for my protein. I have had a few pains as well but usually because I ate something I shouldn't have eaten! I had a bit of a noodle from a lasagna Soup and I hurt for hours and throughout the night! however, it did go away and I am still here!

I go to a WLS support group in my area and there are people there who said they sell Grapefruit juice type of Protein drinks at Trader Joe's. I want to go look for some, I hate the shakes! Before surgery I loved chocolate, I was a addict when it came to chocolate. Now the smell of it makes me gag! I purchased a huge chocolate Protein powder jug. Now I can barely drink it!!!! Just letting you know, hopefully you have a Trader Joe's by you so you can try the drink.

My doctor told me that after two weeks, a person has a "zero percent" (his words) chance of a leak. With that being said, I am sure it was just too much acidity from the lemon.....and WOW I could never have eaten a lemon straight!! (even before surgery! LOL

Good Luck!

Its so hard to get used to all the new feelings and rules, I find myself unsure at times too! Dont be affraid to call your Dr. office with any questions you have either, thats what they are there for!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
