Time to introduce myself!!

Hi everybody,

I am Dianne and have been a lurker on this board since October, I think. I was researching surgery after my husband got a new job in Sept. and the insurance covered bariatric surgery. I was really looking at the lap band, but I had really been thinking that I was going to just have gastric bypass. Well, then I saw on the surgeon's website about VSG. Well, I started researching and have been full steam ahead for VSG ever since. I have been overweight my whole life and am really ready for a change. I have 3 beautiful children through the miracle of adoption and I want to be here to see them grow up and have children of their own. And I want to be able to play with them and their children someday.

I am looking at surgery probably in June. I have completed 4 of my 6 required monthly appointments. My sleep study is done, with no sleep apnea!!!!! I have 1 of 2 psych. appointments completed, the 2nd is on April 5th. After next month's meeting, I will make an appointment to meet the surgeon and then after the last meeting, they will submit to insurance. I just have to really work on getting my A1C below 8, because they won't do surgery until then and I have to have my Vit. D rechecked because it was really low.

I love reading this board, everyone is so helpful.

Dianne

Hi Dianne,

welcome to the VST boards (officially). Congrats on your decision to move toward the VSG. I too started out as a possible Bandster, then moved to VSG. The people here are wonderful and very open to answering your questions (even if it has been a million times before). I love the support and encouragement on these boards!!

So welcome!!! :)

Heather

Welcome!! I'm only 3 weeks out, but this board has been wonderful before and after surgery. I love the support I get here. I also looked at the band because my mom has one, but I can't stand to watch all the blockages she has. I love my sleeve!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
