Hi there. I am absolutely committed to getting sleeved as soon as is reasonably possible -- the issue is the price and I wonder if anyone could help me.

I am looking at surgery from Drs. Hung and Taddeuci. The thing that sold me on this surgery was that global insurance was included in the price of 6100 dollars for the surgical fee. The local hospital charges 12,500 for all fees and an overnight stay and then the pre-op assessments are roughly another thousand dollars. So I'm at 20K.

If I could find a cheaper surgeon to fly to with the global insurance to cover complications I would go there instead. This is the only reason I don't want to go to Mexico -- I don't care if its in Mexico and I'm sure they make you safe when you go, but there is no coverage for aftercare and I have no health insurance at all. In the event of complications I would be on my own with a huge bill and no recourse.

Is there another, cheaper self-pay surgeon with a package that includes this kind of insurance? Thanks.

One of the insurances is called BLIS. You might try googling BLIS surgeons and see if you can get a list of those who participate and then go from there. Good luck!

You are close to me in Kansas City, Missouri. I am going through Malley Surgical & New Hope Bariatrics in Shawnee, KS and am doing self-pay. It is $16,500 total for everything and up to a years worth of visits and a 2 day hospital stay. it covers everthing that I am aware of. I do not know about the insurance though since I do have medical insurance to cover any emergencies. A lot of the site talks about Lap Band but they do the sleeve as well. Here is the number if you want to give them a call: 913-492-2530

So far everyone has been very caring and great to work with during the experiences I have had with them so far. But if you want to stay local call around. Weight Loss Surgery Center wanted $17,900 so they can vary a lot.

I am using Dr David Kim in Colleyville, TX and I am paying 12,300 and it includes everything that has been mentioned in this post-

Dr Kim, his assistant, anesthesiologist, hospital, radiologist, follow up for 1 year.

I have been researching his practice for 4 years and have now saved the money to proceed. Surgery March 22 and am so very excited.

Check out his website at www.drdkim.com

Lucky you. Your surgeon fee likely includes the surgical assistant's fee as well. overall, your surgery cost at least $4000 less than mine. again, lucky you.

Don't forget that Medical Tourism is always an option. Many skilled surgeons with training in the states operate in Mexico. Including travel costs...you pay less than half of what you are looking at right now.

Best,

Foreign surgery is a cost-effective option and quality should be excellent as thats all they do. I have a lot of medical complication from my obesity and wanted doctors I know involved with my care so foreign surgery was not a prudent option for me.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
