Coke Zero????

Recommended Posts

I was told no carbonated beverages for six months post-op. Is this what your Nuts told you? I work night shift and REALLY miss my Coke Zero! I have been drinking iced tea and coffee ( even though it has caffeine), but I can't shake my soda craving! I'm almost 4 mo post- op and am curious if it will truly stretch out my sleeve if I drink an occasional carbonated beverage.

Yep what Chilo said. I indulge in a can of Diet Dr. Pepper about once a week, I don't intentionally let it go flat but it sits about and hour while I finish it in tiny, tiny sips. I actually find the belching makes me feel a little better.

I drink diet soda almost everyday & have since month 4. No issues for me. But, that's just my experience.

I do too - I am not letting it go all flat, I just pour it from very high into a glass so it fizzes up a lot.

Use a big glass though, to avoid spilling, but once I do this, it is flat enough for me to drink without issues.

I drink a lot out of my Blender Bottle these days. It looks weird, but it is big so I can pour a whole can into it and if it isn't flat enough I out the tab on and give it a little swirl.

Thanks Susanne! Totally flat Coke Zero just doesn't sound appealing to me! I will give you're method a try! :-)

I would recommend getting off of caffeine entirely. I work night shift too and it was hell until I gave up all caffeine and started eating lighter at night and drank more Water. I found that caffeine actually makes you feel worse.

No soda is about the only rule that I'm pretty hard core about. I tried a sip once, and didn't like it. Ironically, beer, slowly and rum and cokes, again slowly, are ok. Funny. I don't want to go back to my habit of non-stop diet sodas. But I am on a non-stop crystal light drip, so is there really a difference???? Not sure.

I really thought that by 16 weeks out, I would be over the urge to have diet soda. You're right about feeling better off the caffeine. I didn't drink caffeine for the first 6 weeks d/t the fear of dehydration. I did feel better! Then one day I had a coffee and never looked back! I haven't tried the soda yet, and am going to hold off. Hopefully this craving will pass! I guess using the Night Shift excuse is just a way of giving myself permission to mess up! Thanks for redirecting me!!

I never was a big Water drinker, so this has been a major adjustment to me! I like Crystal Light, and did great on it initially. I had that first iced coffee and there went the Crystal Light!! I know BAD! Doggz is right, caffeine makes you feel horrible! I need to go cold turkey again! I'm going to avoid carbonation until this summer, and then treat myself to a beer! Thanks for the reply!

I just tried some Diet DrPepper with no problems. I was hanging out with some friends and I wanted something more than just Water. I poured it over ice and let the ice melt so it was watered down.

I have not had a single sip of soda since mid-Sept 2010. I don't miss it a bit. I was doing Water only for the longest time because Crystal lite seemed too sweet for me.

But now I'm a big fan of this:

http://thisonebody.blogspot.com/2011/02/water-water-more-water.html

Darn, I cannot seem to get the link directly to True Lemon working, so this is my blog post about it. Anyway I drink True Raspberry Lemonade, it is sweetened with Stevia (which I really like over the other non-caloric sweetners.) But I drink about 1 of these a day.

But to answer your question, I was told FLAT soda was ok. Just like the others said.

I was never really told anything about soda except not to have it.. Do they say it can stretch out your sleeve??

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
