pro op weight loss

Recommended Posts

I have been on my 800 calorie pre-op diet for 4 days now and have lost 8 pounds. That shocks me. I was thinking it would be a pound a day, not 2 pounds a day. It has been hard at times. Today I baked a pizza for my kids and it smells so good. My husband is being the diet police, so I am staying on track. He's watching me like a hawk! LOL. 4 days down 10 to go! .......ugh I just realized it is more like 25 days to go since I am on liquids after surgery. I am sure I will say it was all worth it in the end.

It WILL be worth it! ~ Just know that it is just a tool to a newer healthier you! It's been a freedom from compulsive eating for me.

Hang in there! Think of the 8 lbs you've lost already! That's 8 lbs you don't have to lose after the surgery! You're ahead of the game! Since I'm starting my preop diet tomorrow, I weighed and measured today and made my dear husband take "before" photos of me so I can visualize the loss, also. Then went to the store and bought lots of sugar free (blech!) popsicles, Jello, crystal light, broth, Protein Drinks, etc. I've been pigging out on all my favorite foods this past week or two and feel bloated and lethargic and my skin has broken out. I think I'm ready for some healthier foods! Actually, after about 2 days of the liquid diet, I'll probably regret THAT statement! :)

I must admit, the pre op diet was quite difficult for me. Don't let this discourage you when you think about the post op liquid diet. The post op diet is so much easier than the pre op diet because you don't want to eat. Before the surgery, you want to eat EVERYTHING!

thanks for the advice and support. Today I weighed the same as yesterday even though I walked 3 miles on the treadmill yesterday. go figure. I guess my body was in shock, and now I am sure my weight loss is slowing down.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
