Dumping syndrome 4 days post op

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery this past Mon., 2/7. Was feeling so good until the morphine left my body. Was keeping hydrated until 8:30 this morning when I started Phase 2 and drank a 20g Protein Shake. It was 4 oz and I probably consumed it too quickly. I am sure it was the dumping syndrome because it perfectly describes what I was feeling. I was in so much pain that I wanted to die. Right up there with giving birth with no anesthesia and my kidney stone. I do not want to try Protein Powder ever again and am not sure if I ever want to eat again!!!

Dumping syndrome usually involves you being in the bathroom for awhile (a long while) and it's not a normal thing for VSGers! My guess is you did drink too fast. I still get pain if I eat or drink too fast and I'm 3 months post-op! Remember to just sip sip sip slowly!

Im so sorry you had this pain! I am guessing you were drinking too fast.. or too big sips... Don't give up, just take it slow. It will get easier in the next week or so....

I get this pain if I eat too fast or too much. I wasn't about to get down 4 oz at one time the first week. SIP SIP SIP SLOWLY!! It will get better!! I have to really watch how fast I eat and the size of bites! I will be 5 weeks out on Tuesay next week! It takes time to get use to eating so slow... I was a very fast eater before!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
