how much can a pouch stretch?

Recommended Posts

Dear Dr.Gregg,

I had my VSG 10 months ago and successfully dropped 48 lbs. I have had no complications with the procedure and overall have been very pleased. However, I've noticed that gradually I have been able to eat more. I can comfortably consume double what I ate several months ago and I am afraid that my stomach will stretch back close to its original size. My weight has plateaued for quite awhile now and I still need to loose another 15 lbs. to be where my Dr. said I should be. Its easy to lose weight when you're full after a few bites but when it starts taking more to feel satisfied I'm concerned that its "undoing" everything thats been done. I'd appreciate your honesty and expertise with this. Thanks

Well like anything biological it's made of tissue and just about any tissue can be stretched if enough pressure is put on it for long enough. I doubt that it could recover back to it's pre-op size but me come close to a smaller version of a full size stomach.

You need to exercise Portion Control and eat ONLY what you have determined you need for the day.

It's a day to day process, one step at a time.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
