I'm 3 months out, and I can take several large gulps of Water and be fine as long as I haven't eaten recently. I drink from straws, too.

4 weeks out and no problem with straws. I think a cup with lid and straw actually helps me get in more fluids at work. It takes too much time to remove and replace the lid on a water bottle when I'm answering the phone from hell, typing on the computer or checking patients in or out (I work in a very busy medical clinic).

OK, I am four years out and I have never heard about the straw thing..... After four years, you wll ALMOST be able to eat like a normal person....and your stomach will grow some in volume and you will know what you can eat more of (crackers vs. bread). I am trying to lose 10-15 pounds now but it has truly been a breeze for me! You would really have to try really hard to gain all of your weight back....

Don't drink Water too fast!!!! No matter how thirsty you are, or how good it tastes!!!!! I know this, I know this, I know this, but I still drink it too fast sometimes..arrgggg....and I pay for it when it goes down and really makes me queezie for a few......

And what is the deal with NOT drinking from a straw??? I love drinking from a straw and sometimes it is soo much easier...just cuious

I drink with straws all the time, even the day of surgery! I love straw drinking! And you know i laughed at your post because i'm 13 months out and haven't learned my lesson on drinking either! I drink and if it's good my goodness do i pay for it. . . I would make a real bad psych subject to learn behavior! Can't teach an old dog new tricks! Not this dog anyhow

I do believe the straw belief is a carry over form the Gastric Bypass. My daughter had that and Straws are a BIG NO NO for her, I think because their pouch hold the air and causes problems. We have no pouch so the air comes up instantly if we swallow it.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
