Question about when you started mushys ... pain

Recommended Posts

Good morning sleevers!

I started mushys today and had a fluffy scrambled egg with a little sprinkle of cheese. I added milk to the egg so it would be extra fluffy. I took baby sized bites but still felt pain in my upper stomach area when it went down. Now about an hour later I am having a burning like pain between my shoulder blades. Anyone else experience this.

I have never had hearburn so dont know if that is what I am feeling. I have had a fairly easy recovery thus far = but this pain really scares me. Its not sharp - it is more like burning??? Thoughts? I am going to limit myself to one mushy per day this week and the rest liquids - to transition my tummy over the course of time.

Let me know what you think. Thanks in advance.

Kim

It sounds like gas pressure to me but I'm no expert. I know the "BUBBLE" I get in my center upper tummy when I drink or eat is gas. Have you tried taking a Gax X strip? Those really helped me! I sure hope you feel better.

I did feel uncomfortable at first with mushies, but I started eggs when I was a bit further out cause I found them quite "heavy" to my stomach. Now I eat 2 eggs for breakfast!

I also have problems with eggs. I am 3 days away from 4 weeks post op and just started mushies this week. I had pain with the scrambled egg, so didn't go further with it (I also added milk to make it more moist), and I also can't handle a really runny egg over easy. I get a pain in my stomach, so I've decided to hold off on eggs for now. I am, however, able to eat a little bit of meatloaf. Just don't quite understand..........I would think the meatloaf would be a heavier choice than an egg. But, I'm grateful to get some food with flavor after 3 weeks of liquid/pureed foods. good luck with it all.

eggs kill! LOL I don't know why they tell people to have them. I thought I was going to throw up. I did better with egg salad though. Around day 15 the pain stopped but I still get that bubble (I'm day 22 post op). Good luck.

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
