African American Sleevers

  • Popular Post

Hi All!

I wanted to start a thread for African-American sleevers (no worries I HEART all sleevers from the rainbow). I just thought, no scientific proof, that African-American sleevers may respond to the surgery different than our lovely non-African American sleeved sisters and brothers. I wanted to know if we had the same skin issue, hair problems, and other surgery related issues. Also, how to deal with the culture shock. African-American "soul food" may be something of the past... or not. So I was just looking for a space to voice culture related issues and concens.

PS- I TRULY  ALL SLEEVERS.

Hello to all. I had my surgery yesterday may 12th. I'm a bit sore. I left the hospital today.

Good luck, healing takes time but trust me it will be worth it for a better and healthier quality of life ????????

Good morning! It's been a long time since I've posted! Just to give an update, I am a 4"11 female, I was sleeved 9/26/14 my highest weight was 228. On the day of surgery I was 217 as of today 8/10/15, I am 166.3! I'd do it again in a heartbeat and I've influenced 5 people of whom I've shared my journey with, to have or at least inquire about this procedure....

Hello I have not posted in awhile. I'm now 3 months postop. I'm down 52 pounds. I feel great went from a size 20 pants to 16 3x to Extra large. I get complaints all time time. This was the best decision I made for myself. I have had no problems at all. Good luck to all of you.

Hello All, I'm new here and this is my first post. I'm AA and I really appreciate this thread. I'm 2 weeks post-op and I'm losing fast, which I like verymuch. I'm just afraid it will stall once I start pureed/soft foods next week. Does anyone else have the fear? Plus I'm on sick of my liquid diet, I'll literally do back flips on the day I start eating again. ( Wishful thinking on the backflips. :)

Hi Freemimi, Some do stall -we must keep perspective on the ultimate goal. Stalls are temporary. There are other threads on stalls you can search using the search tool. Good Luck and welcome to the losers bench.

Hello everybody, I'm an AA sleever - surgery date - 9/25/15. Excited and a little nervous. Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers and i will do the same for you.

I will keep you in my prayers as you are setting out to embark on a new life style. God Bless.

Hello everyone! My surgery date is 8/31. I am 40 years old and excited about my future and my new sleeve. I am on my post op diet right now. Everyday gets easier. When my hunger gets unbearable I eat some protein or veggies.

Good Luck, I pray you have a speedy recovery.

Good luck to you on your upcoming surgery.

Consultation in a month. What can I do to prepare? I've researched and created a list of questions. It's killing me to wait....
