Hi everyone!

So happy to have found this thread. The website overall has been very helpful with information and personal experiences. I am in the process of meeting with all the different specialists for testing. I finished my eight months of nutritional meetings and have met with the surgeon. It's a long process but well worth it. Good luck to all those who are close to their surgery dates!

Anyone in the Chicago/Northwest Indiana area? Let's chat.

Hello Everyone,

My insurance has given the go-ahead for my surgery. I am scheduled for July 29th. The insurance approval was really quick. My paperwork was submitted on Friday June 27th, and I was approved today July 2nd. I was shocked because I didn't expect to have surgery until sometime in August. I'm really excited and really nervous at the same time. I started this process in December. It's gone by so quickly.

I'm so excited for you... Congratulations! !!!

Hi everyone, I'm new to this, been thru all of my classes, and just got approved for my surgery on July 18th. I just started my liquid diet today, & it's been a very long hard day. I took my 8 servings of Optifast, and tons of Water, is there anything else I can eat...I feel hungry still

I'm so glad I found this post now I can find out how to deal with my hair if it starts to act crazy lol

Really hoping it doesn't fall out been natural too long to start over.

I am currently waiting on my insurance approval while I finish up my last 3 classes.

Congratulations on your approval!!! Everyone's doctor and nutritionist has different liquid diet requirements. Some don't require a liquid diet at all. Mine was ten days of Protein Shakes, water, sugar free Popsicles, and sugar free Jello. The jello really helped when I wanted to chew something and actually feel something solid in my tummy. Please consult with your doctor before changing anything. There may be a specific reason for the diet you're on and although it's probably going to be one of the hardest things you've ever done the surgery is 100% worth it and you don't want to do anything to delay it.

Good luck!

Prayers up for your approval!

I think bring natural vs relaxed helps with Hair loss. You may want to start taking Biotin as well. My NUT (nutritionist) said that 10,000 mcg (pic attached) is the most that our bodies will absorb so that's what I take once a day. My hair is relaxed and has always shedded and like most people that do experience hair loss I has some 3 months post op. It wasn't too bad as in no one rise noticed. But there was definitely more hair left in my combs and brushes and it thinned a little. That lasted maybe a month and a half. The other thing I noticed is dandruff (I have to wash my hair more frequently) My scalp is way drier now and I suppose it's due to the fact that you just don't get as many fluids in post op

The best thing you can do is what we're already supposed to be doing: drink your Water, get your Protein in, and take your Vitamins.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
