8 month "stall" & disgusted with myself

Hello everyone! If this thread needs to be moved, I understand, but I'm struggling here and I know it's all my fault. I was sleeved in the summer of 2009 and lost 100 pounds effortlessly in the first 8 months. I did not follow my surgeon's post-op diet (which was full of contradictions and very confusing...it was basically geared for band patients), and I lost weight no matter what I ate. Now, I can eat up to a cup and a half of food and feel really full, so I'm concerned I've stretched my sleeve.

I have been eating crap, have not changed my habits, and don't really know where to start as far as following a post-op diet that will help me get the rest of this weight off. I need to lose about 60 more pounds. Can anyone give me their post-op diets that have worked for them? I really need something comprehensive that I can follow. My husband is losing on Atkins, but I'm having a hard time cutting out the carbs like he has. I'm so mad at myself, and I don't know what to do. I really want to finish losing weight, and while I'm totally grateful for the sleeve and the 100 pounds I've lost, my bmi is still in the obese range and I want to get out of it.

Please, I'm not asking for anyone to trash talk me here...I know I've messed up and I'm disgusted with myself. I'm just asking for some advice on a post-op diet that works.

I was told I need 80 grams of Protein a day. So, if I get those 80, can i still have carbs...like fruit mixed in my Protein Drink?

Thanks for any advice anyone can give.

Lane

take a deep breath and remember, you are NOT horrible. None of us are horrible. You just have to get back to working your sleeve. What everyone says is right. Try LilMissDiva's basics boot camp plan thingy - and make sure you're always eating your proteins first, veggies second, cards last. That protein will fill you up fast.

Next, ask yourself why you have gone off your plan. Is there something that you're trying to avoid? Get right with yourself and things will fall into place. Maybe you're not quite ready to have kids yet. Maybe you want to enjoy your new body for a while. You're YOUNG and have plenty of time! Just be honest with yourself if that is it and be honest with your husband as well. Take the time to figure out what's going on with you. :) You're worth it :)

Hmmm, even if you can eat 1.5 cups of food, as long as you stick to lean protein, fruits and veggies, it still shouldn't cause a gain. It's just more of a matter of what those 1.5 cups are. Good luck.

Wow, I am so grateful I found this forum. I am struggling bad. I haven't lost any weight in 2 months and I had surgery on 01/18/2012. I love to snack and I find myself snacking at work all the time. I can't fool myself when I look in the mirror I still look 350 lbs and I have lost 80 lbs. I so want to ge to my goal weight and just don't see that happening. I'm struggling with exercise and just not sure what to eat anymore. I need help and my will power back.

I think the suggestions given to the OP (original poster) on this thread are some things you might want to consider for yourself. Look at what your meal plans are like. Stick to those and cut out the Snacks. If you must have a snack, make them healthy. Start walking if exercise is difficult for you, start with whatever amount you can handle and continue to add to it each week.

Set goals mini and longer goals for yourself. There are weight loss challenges going on all the time. Go to the General Sleeve Discussion category. We are just finishing up the 4th of July challenge. I personally find this very helpful. It's totally voluntary, but most people post once a week their progress. Kind of a way to help us be accountable for our weight loss.

Hope this helps.

I am right there with you. I am so angry with myself! I was doing great and then life took over. I keep finding so many reasons no to get back on track. I really need to find some motivation.

Hi Lane: I just wanted to commend you for your honesty and give you encouragement as you go forward. I would concentrate on low calorie, high protein food and a lot of water. Try and decrease the carbs, hard as it is. You will do well. Just stick to it, and don't rush it. It takes time to get there:)
