I think it is still an uncommon grain and not a lot of people are really familiar with it yet. Also, being a grain it is a pure carb and being a grain it may swell in the stomach so people might be cautious.

I know this is an old post but thought I'd post here rather than open up a whole new thread.

Does anyone have any experience with this stuff? YES, it is higher than other foods high in Protein but looks like a good way to get SOME grains in the diet and benefit from the rich Protein it provides. I have to munch on crackers now and then to keep my stomach acid at bay, crackers made from this stuff would not be as "bad" as those made from wheat.

Here's a nutritional lowdown: http://nutritiondata.self.com/facts/cereal-grains-and-pasta/10352/2

Does anyone know of a supply of ready made products from this grain?

I've eaten it for a year without issue. I did hold off for a bit just like I did with rice, Pasta and potatoes, but now it's just another yummy option for me.

I like quinoa. Used to use it for Pasta. But haven't tried it since surgery. It's my favorite white flour pasta substitute. I bought it at my local grocery chain. It should definitely be available at whole foods or other store carrying "health food"

Bob's Red Mill carries the grain itself. My grocery store carries Quinoa/Corn pasta's in their healthfood section. food Network has some recipes. I am just moving to solids, and am looking forward to eating again (as opposed to drinking everything).

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
