Weight loss is great for the jeans

Recommended Posts

Sorry it has been so long. I’m really working hard at getting out of the house more and socializing more so in return I haven't been getting online as much. BUT I really miss you guys. I need to get on here more so I have people to talk to that understand me better. My WLS is still a secret to most people and even if people know about the WLS they don’t really understand.

SO as of this week I have go from a size 20 high to a size 5/6!! The last time I got this butt into a size 6 I was 14 years old! GET THIS THOUGH I can get a size 4 on, it just looks tight BUT I haven't got a size 4 over my thighs since I was 12!! I AM SO PUMPED!! On the weight side of things I’m have gone from around 210 high to now I am an amazing 132!! I didn't even know I could get in the 130's and now I’m starting to get close to the 120’s.

Okay but side note.. Anyone that has hit their goal weight having some head issues with gaining the weight back. I have a Super Sleeve (pretty much the same as a VSG they just don’t take out the extra part of my stomach instead they fold it over) so of course we eat next to nothing but now I have it in my head that I’m starting to eat too much. I’m a little scared that I’m going to go from over eating disorder to under eating disorder. It started a few days before Christmas when I got sick and couldn’t eat for a few days. Now I have a bit of a fear of food. Maybe I’m just being silly. It is my time of the month and I tend to worry more and gain a bit of weight. Advise??

Congratulations!!!!! What a great accomplishment. (You need to update that ticker ... still shows 142 & 8 pounds to goal. Be proud of your accomplishment of making goal!)

I think we all have that fear of food once we decide on maintenance. There is a maintenance thread out here that you may want to check out. http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/11768-official-maintenance-thread/page__pid__106032#entry106032

I'm still battling the maintenance "demon" myself. I have an appointment with a NUT next week ... I promise to report back any advice she has about maintenance for life.

I have this thing that once i hit goal (20 more lbs or so) I'm not going to stop there. . it's going to be a personal challenge on my part to see if i can lose about 20 or 30 more. . . is that a disorder or what? Cause if i do loose that 20 or 30 lbs, what will i do then? Loose another say, 10 or so ?

Yes it does! Yahoo!

I think this is a new phase on our journey. This is the part that we've all failed before - maintenance. This time we have a tool to allow us to succeed. I look forward to hearing more about your journey & I will post mine as well.

We are in this together!

Well I don't know the first thing about being at goal, much less maintaining it - I just thought I'd stop by and congratulate you much on making it!!!

I can't even fathom it, but hey - there's a first time for everything.

I have been telling myself it is okay to keep lowering my goal since I thought 145 was impossible a first but I hit it so I changed it to 140, then 135, and now 130 but since I'm almost 130 I want to change it to 125. Just 5 more lbs.

Here is my main worry when I was over 200 lbs I knew I must be big but honestly I was in so much denial that I didn't see myself as big BUT now that I'm thin I see myself as big. I see the area I want to work on and could be better. Maybe it is just hoping knowing I can get the body I've always wanted but some where I have to find peace in myself. At some point there has to be happiness.

Maybe I've just gone crazy lol

I am so excited to see your results....when I was at my lowest 128 (I was 4 months pregnant and throwing up constantly and was in a size10. Obviously clothes are sized much differently know but I cannot wait. I was a size 22 and my goal is 130 and to think I could be between a 4 or 6 is mind boggling. My goal is 125 but I think anymore than that and I may look to skinny. I may re-evaluate when I get closer. I know that maintence is gonna be hard and I may try to start then I get close and I will probably still lose as I learn to maintain. Good luck in your next phase.

Please join us on the maintenance thread!

I know very few people who kept right on losing when their body got to where it wanted to be. I can't wait to hear what Mini's nutritionist has to say.

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
