STALL 3 WEEKS POST OP

Recommended Posts

HELLO, my name is Liza, I had my gastric sleeve surgery on December 7 2010. My original weight was 211 lbs. On the day of surgery, my weight was down to 199. Today at about 3 weeks post op, I weigh at 186 lbs. I feel great, sometimes I wake up in the morning and I had to remind myself that I had the surgery. I think my weightloss is super slow and I am not very happy about it, especially for someone like me who weighs herself about 5 times a day. I just started going back to the gym 2 days ago and I use the elliptical machine for 30 minutes each day. Still though, the scale isnt moving at all. I do take my 1500mg Calcium and Multivitamins everyday and follow the diet as ordered. If there's anything unusual, I may not be able to get all the calories needed each day, Ive been trying my best to get all the Water and Protein in. I take protein everyday about 66g a day, I use nectar protein, it mixes well and has absolutely zero carbs/sugar.

I am so frustrated with the super slow weight loss, Ive become kind of irritable to the people around me. 3 weeks and I stopped losing weight, I mean literally, WTF????Help me? I dont know what to do anymore, Ive followed all instructions and yet Im stuck BIG TIME! Will someone tell me this stall will end, has anyone had the same problem?

Good thing though is that Im off insulin. Well duh, of course im not eating anything, my blood sugars everyday range from 80 to 88, this is the only good thing.

I wanted to burn my digital weighing scale and throw it away, it just pisses me off seriously!

Lizabug...

you have done really well to date and your weight loss isn't slow... not at all!!!

The dreaded 3week stall is a pain in the tail, but it is a way for you body to take some 'time out' and readjust... remember, you are still recovering from major surgery!

Try not to get too stressed.... I know it is hard, but the scale will move again!

I went through the 3 week stall and it passed!

Good luck =]

Wow I do not know why you think your losing slow because you are not. If you are seeing that others are losing more faster... chances are they weighed more then you like I do. The bigger the person is the more they tend to lose on the front end. You are doing fine and you probably need to leave the scale alone for awhile.

yep im officially getting my weighing scale out of my sight..i put it in the garage where i wont see it every minute of the day...i just got home from the gym, 30 minutes as usual on the elliptical, which i have to say feels good especially with the right music blasting from my ipod earphones, this is my "me" time, this is when i listen to inspiring music and after about 5 to 6 songs im done with my 30 minutes with the cooldown. I feel tired after the elliptical machine and so i take another Protein drink, this time just one scoop so 23g of Protein there...so ill keep doing what im doing i guess and just think positive.thank u to my new friends from this forum, this is the best support group ever!!! Before i found this forum, I was watching youtube videos and thats is theyre just videos of succesful post ops...this is something new and a very informative website! Im glad i joined!

Hi All,

I am getting sleeved on 2/4, cant wait, I currently weigh 206, need to lose 5lbs before surgery, should be easy, but I have this fear after all of this that I will be the one that only loses 20lbs, I am so pumped to do this, but what scares me is that I am not a big eater, just eat the wrong things. We can all lose weight on liquids only but what happens after that, I am so hopeful though. Let me know if any of you feel like this or felt like this. Would love to hear from any of you that weigh about the same as I do, how much you lost, how you felt the first few weeks after surgery etc. I plan on going back to work 10 days after surgery, I have an office job, not strenuous at all. Any advice, stories etc are welcome. Thanks for your support!!

I was sleeved Dec 1st and I also stalled at 3 weeks. I am heading into 6 weeks and I think I am hitting another one. I weighed 212 when I went into the hospital and weighed 224 when I got home. I am now down to 193 lbs. I haven't been this since 1988. I have accepted I will not loose as quickly as I hope but I am still losing weight and it will never come back on. So take it easy on yourself and enjoy the ride. From another who weighs herself several times a day.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
