Weigh more leaving the hospital than surgery day?

I was sleeved on Monday and came home on Tuesday . When I came home I weighed six pounds more than I did when I arrived for my surgery. Is this a normal occurence due to IV fluids?

yep, it's the IV. You will eliminate the fluids in the next couple of days. I waited a week to weigh because of the IV fluids and was down almost 8 lbs from my hospital weigh in. Just keep sipping your fluids and try to get your protein in. Those lbs will go away. And congrats on getting sleeved. I'm 3 wks out and have lost 15 lbs which I consider good. I started at 202. Good luck!!

Thanks for the quick replies. Deep down I knew that's what it was but with this being a new experience it is always good to get confirmation. I wish everyone luck and am hoping things go smoothly for everyone!

I gained 12 pounds in the hospital and I was only there 24 hours. :D But it did come off quickly and now the pounds are slowly melting away. Don't be discouraged it happens to most of us. This just shows I was good and hydrated for a few extra days while I got my sips on. Congrats on getting sleeved.

I lost 18 lbs. pre op and then came home post surgery and weighed the same as I did before I lost 18 lbs. I was sooo disappointed. But those 18 came off really really quickly -- it was the best and fastest weight loss week I've had yet (and I'm almost 4 months post op!) So, never fear, it will come off :)

I came out 6lbs heavier.... but it soon came off, and more! rolleyes.gif Good luck with your recovery.
