worried bandster

Recommended Posts

Hi everybody,

I just found out I could have done some damage to my 1 week old band. I ate mushies for the 1st time today and i did quite well until dinner, i followed the menu they gave me and i pb'd. Now I have become worried because some people told me I could have ripped some stiches. Is this true? I really followed the menu they gave me but obviously something went wrong becuz i pb'd (1 time) and i also discovered I never want to feel that feeling again. Please converse with me and let me know if I should be worried and what to lok for. I meet my doc next week on the 22nd for post op visit.

Thank you

You are probably just fine; pb'ing happens to most folks at one point or another. Just make sure to give your band a rest when you PB -- i.e. stop eating / meal is over. And maybe stick to liquids for the next meal or two in case there is swelling from the irritation.

What to watch for: if you start vomiting or nothing will go down, call the doctor.

If you are worried, please give your surgeon's office a call to talk to a staff member, since we're not qualified to give real medical advice here. :nervous

You are probably OK. My doctor said it just wasn't good if I would pb frequently when the stitches were new. Once or twice probably wouldn't be damaging, just don't keep on doing it. I wouldn't worry about it.

If you were eating solids, I would give it up for a couple of days and go back to liquids. If it continues, I would advise calling your doctors office.

Call your doctor as soon as you can. Your doctor is the person you need to be getting advise from, not LBT. Your doctor needs to be able to keep pertinent information about you in your chart - it may come in handy at a later date. LBT is a great place to ask questions, but the only information you should TRUST should come from your doctor.

OK, after having taken such a hard line:

Chances are very good that you haven't caused yourself any damage. You should go back to Clear Liquids for the whole day of the PB, possibly as many as 3 - 7 days of clear liquids. One week post-op is not the time to "hope for the best'. Your doctor will tell you what he wants you to do.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
