Hi y'all, made it thru the surgery on thursday and came home saturday evening. Wow, what an experience! Never been in the hospital before, never had an IV or a folie (sp?). Talk about motivation to lose weight and live a healthy lifestyle!!!!! Ok, 2 questions: I came home Saturday and weighed Sunday morning. 332 lbs. This morning (Wed) I weighed 317. 5 lbs a day. Is that too much? I'm drinking 60 ~ ozs of liquid a day. What are typical results. Second, when did y'all start driving again? Bored to tears, watching movies. Best part of day is getting out and walking. Weather is nice, put in a mile yesterday and going a little farther today. How long before your doc let you get behind the wheel?...and, since no one is replying to the first question....is 5 lbs a day too much?

Big D (not AS big)

My doctor said after 2 weeks (which is probably after my pain meds were done) -- why don't you give your dr's office a quick ring?

Had surgery on Tuesday was out by Wednesday and driving on Friday. You should be off all pain meds before driving.

Hi BigD... well first of all - WOW!! You've already lost a lot and way ahead of the pack... congrats to you! You're also doing fabulous with your fluids - I had a lot of trouble at first, so great for you! I think right now while you're barely getting in so many calories and you're doing so well with your fluids, 5 Lbs a day shouldn't be such a hazard. If you feel bad or unhealthy, please see your surgeon. However, if you're feeling fine, roll with it!!

As far as driving, I think the main concern was Driving Under the Influence of narcotic type medication - which I was never on any since Dr. Aceves did not prescribe that to me. I managed fine without it.

I drove over 600 miles back home only 4 days after surgery. Now no way do I recommend that, I only did it because I had to. I pretty much took it easy for the next three weeks and didn't really go anywhere. Give your surgeon a call and ask directly what he suggests.

Wow LilMiss, my hats off to you, your a much better woman than me. i cannot even fathom driving 66 miles 4 days after surg.

As far as driving, my doc says i had to be cleared by him on my first post op, because of anesthesia and drugs given during surgery and post op meds have to clear your system and if u get into an accident, your insurance company will not cover u, this is true for all surgeries, at least here in NY, good luck and dont medicate and drive...:)

You can drive as long as you are not on any pain meds.

congrats Big D I had surgery last Tues (nov 2) i weight 334 and when i hoped on scale a week later i was 314 for 20lbs

i havent seen my surgeon he was away on monday i see him friday but i was kinda concerned also of so much weight and im having a BIG problem getting in any clear Protein drinks, i figure this really cant be all that good but have one more full day as i see him early friday hoping to move to next purred foods and shakes. only issues are slight reflux and gotta watch getting dehydrated cause i cant get in more then 40oz of fluids.

When i came home i didnt take any pain meds but didnt drive for a few days because of not feeling "sharp" from lack of nutrients.

keep up the good work!

Joe

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
