My Mom is considering the sleeve...

Recommended Posts

Well I just received an update from my Mom. Her Dr. replied to her email and said that her BMI is only a 36, and is only classified with ONE Co-Morbidity of High Blood Pressure. They do not consider borderline diabetes as a Co-Morb apparently.

So she'll either have to work out more (believe me, I'm not just saying this - she does need to do this) and watch what she's eating better (this too...) - or - and as I suggested to her already, pay to have it done. There's no doubt who I'll suggest for her... LOL :D

When doing my research, I found that I could qualify with BMI between 35-40 with one co-morbidity. I was a 38 but diabetic. Does her insurance require two? Personally, I don't beleive in "borderline" diabetes-either you are or you aren't. To me borderline means you are diabetic but controling it by diet and exercise. What is her A1C? Personally if she is going through insurance, she needs to have the exact qualifications. There may be more co-morbidity on a list that may help her qualify. One final thought if her doctor is not on board, can she get another opinion from another doctor who might be more supportive? Good luck as you help her with her journey. I am helping my husband to get his insurance qualifications completed so he can join me on my journey.

Honestly I've told her all these things. For some reason she's just taking what her Dr. told her and not doing anything more about it. She's either not fully on board with getting the surgery or was never really totally serious. It's her decision to make, so I don't really bother her with it anymore.

If she tries to fight for it though in the future I will be there for her 100%.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
