Cruise and Food Post-op

Recommended Posts

We have a chance to go on a 4-day cruise over the Presidents' Day holiday in February. My surgery is scheduled for Dec. 28th, meaning I should only be about 6-8 weeks out when we leave.

What should I expect to be able to eat? Should I bring food along? Has anyone else been in this situation, and if so, how did you cope?

Any advice appreciated!

C

It really depends on your doctor/nuts meal plan for you. At 6-8 weeks out, I could eat a lot of items. Some people are just off liquids and on mushies by then.

The good news is that cruises have so many food options. Plus, if you eat in the main dining room, they are more than happy to help with dietary requirements. For the buffets, you can always find some Soups and "mushy" food. You may want to bring along some Protein powders.

How exciting ... a new you and a cruise. I am totally jealous!!!

I'll echo this. Check with your Dr first and see what your meal plan is... but by week 4 I really didn't have any restrictions and by week 6 I could eat pretty much anything I wanted (albeit in much smaller amounts).

The dining room will pretty much make you anything you want! They are amazing! I'm pretty sure cruises are all about the food.< /p>

When I went we had a super picky person in the group and while we were being served lobster she was asking for mashed potatoes and mac & cheese and they were happy to accommodate.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
