Post Op Back pain

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery on Friday and here it is Sunday. The worst pain I've had has been in my back. I was rear-ended Wednesday before my surgery and I'm not sure if the back pain is from the VSG or from the wreck. If you have had backpain please let me know.

I had very bad back pain especially in between my shoulder blades. Apparently the gas they fill your tummy with for the surgery irritates the nerves that go to the back, hence the pain, mine lasted for a couple weeks even, try getting someone to massage your back and it relieves it for a while at least. I know it's really annoying, hope it gets better soon

I haven't been sleeved (yet!) but I have had gallbladder surgery about 11 years ago and had horrible neck and shoulder pain from the gas. I think my shoulders hurt worse than my incision stitches!

I also have been rear-ended and had quite a bit of pain resulting from that, however my 2 things (gallbladder and car accident) were no where near each other timeframe-wise, and so I'm thinking that your pain is probably double than what each would have been had they not happened in the same week. :(

How are you feeling (other than the back pain?) and how did your surgery go? Update us when you can!

My surgery went great. I had a hernia and Dr Aceves said that can cause some back pain. They gave me a muscle relaxer earlier and I've felt much better since. Keeping down fluids fine and most pain is gone! I'm excited to get home and see my babies tomorrow!

Glad to hear you're doing well. I was worried about you after the accident. Good luck, sleeve sista!

Glad to hear your surgery went well.

I had a lot of midback pain after my surgery. It's hard to know if your pain is from surgery or that horrid pre-op accident. Get thee to a doctor, I say.

I fell this week trying to learn to skateboard. I'm 47 so I thought I might get some back or neck pain from that. Nope. God, it's great to be 145 lbs. That fall would've hurt at 210. :-)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
