One Month Out From Gastric Sleeve Surgery And Scale Has Not Moved

Recommended Posts

I had surgery on Aug. 16 and I lost like 18 pounds or so from my pre op visit to my first post op visit 2 weeks ago. I feel fine and have noticed that the issues with I had with metabolic syndrome are gone, but the scale has not moved and its very depressing. I'm so afraid I am going to stretch the thing that I have been purging when I start to feel discomfort, even though i was told that the discomfort was from taking to big of bites. I have been getting sick or anything but since I started on soft foods nothings been happening.:)

Don't worry! Trust me. I went throught the SAME thing. Almost 2.5 weeks before my stall broke!! The best advise i can offer is 1. Make sure you're getting in your fluids and 2. Be sure you are eating your calories!! 3. Take 1 day to "shock" your body by eating more calories than normal (up your fats, not your carbs). They weight will come off, I PROMISE.

Honey try a 3 1/2 MONTH stall. . . now that is depressing, but know how i deal with it??? as I've written over and over again. . . GET RID OF THE SCALE! THROW THE STUPID THING AWAY! The scale will drive you to drink! and if you can't pull yourself away from the dumb thing, then at least only weigh once a month or so. . . NOT everyday! Try it and see if that doesn't make more sense then killing yourself over no weightloss day after day. . . good luck!!!!

I am experiencing the same thing. I was sleeved on 8-16-10 and have lost $22 lbs (including pre-op). It's been 2 weeks I am on mushy foods and the scale has been wicked. Does not want to move. I am so disappointed at this time and get horrible thoughts too. What if the weight does not come off.

Remember, your body is going through a lot of changes right now. Don't get upset about the scale not moving, it will catch up and even out. Try taking your measurements on a regular basis, you will probably be happy to see that even if the scale isn't moving, you are losing inches.

Most everyone goes through a stall somewhere between weeks three and six. It is not at all unusual, though it is frustrating. Just remember, it won't last forever!

I was sleeved 1/31/13 and lost 32 lbs the first three weeks. I was so week and so afraid I would never feel myself again. Week four was a great week for me and now week 5-6 is even better. I have not lost any weight since I have been able to eat so I do worry a little about that but I also have been told this is common. I'm just happy I can eat and have energy my life was rough for 3 weeks.

22pounds! Congratulations. Probably u will lose really unevenly. I try to look at the plateaus as "cementing" in the new weight! Keep us posted!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
