Hello Everyone! I am a newbie. I have been considering WLS for a long time and decided it was best for me. I started my journey 2 yrs. ago and have hit so many stumbling blocks... I started off with Kaiser, and was able to complete half of their program before my hubbys company dropped Kaiser as an insurance option for us...so we ended up with Aetna..I have completed everything they required for my surgical consultation...during that time I went from want RNY to DS.. My insurance covers all WLS..unfortunately/fortunately there is no surgeon who does DS in our medical group, so I have decided the sleeve is the best option for me. (it is not what I eat, but how much I eat) the malabsorbtion of DS scared me. I have been approved and I am waiting for a date. I was worried that with Vsg I wouldn't lose enough weight, but figure any loss is a good start in the right direction.. So.. my question is for the heavier vgs people.. I am 5 11 325lbs, is there a good chance I can make it to my goal of 180??

Dr. says prob not, but I could lose 75-80 lbs..( he is suggesting RNY) So any advice or info. would be greatly appreciated! I am so ready this, I am so tired of being like this!

Stacee, I had surgery in Jan 2010 and I have lost 142 pounds as of today.

I started at 362 and currently weigh 220, so yes it is possible. I know guys

lose faster than women but there are several ladies on this site that have lost

that much over time.

Welcome to the site and good luck on your journey.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
