Hi everyone, greetings from Mexicali! I was wheeled into the OR right about 5 hours ago and I'm chilling on the couch talking to my boyfriend online! I'm amazed at how easy the surgery's been. It's my first surgery ever, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I don't have any pain per se, just a slight discomfort in my tummy. I also woke up drenched in sweat in the recovery room, not sure why. My temp was below 36, so thankfully, no fever. I'm still sweating quite a bit, even though my room is cold AND I have a fan running. Before the surgery, I was freezing in here!

I have random annoying hiccups, but they are no more painful than regular hiccups. Nothing by mouth for me today, just an IV to stay hydrated. I was able to walk a few steps to the bathroom (I have a private one in my room), but can't pee yet - must be the spinal.

Glad to hear everything is going well for you. If your mouth gets too dry (with the no liquids) you can rinse it out... don't swallow but, this will help a little bit. ;)

Congrats baby girl, I'm happy everything went as expected. Didn't you have a cold or something? I'm assuming everything is cool now. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

I'm so glad they did not postpone your surgery. I'm so happy for you. Take care and keep us posted. I have been worried about you, but I can see now you are doing well.

Thank goodness.

Thanks for the support! I still had a bit of a cold this morning, but the anesthesiologist said it wasn't a problem (I didn't have a cough, just a head cold). Right now, it's not bothering me. I just finally peed, on the 3rd try - patient coordinator said it's surprising how early I was able to do it. Sounds like I'm well ahead of the curve with recovery. The doctor did say some people feel worse the 2nd day, once the spinal has worn off - hopefully it won't happen to me.

Congrats on your surgery. I would agree with Dr. Aceves, my second day was not to fun but they told me I would feel better the third day and I did. So if you don't feel to good tomorrow don't let it get you down.

Welcome to the losers bench.

Thanks, Gary! What do they do to help you feel better on the 2nd day, just more pain meds via IV? Did you have a lot of nausea the 2nd day, or was it just more pain?

On the second day they just gave meds in the IV. Dr. A said I was doing "extremely" well on the 2nd day. I didn't feel bad at all. Good luck!~

I just had a little more pain and most of it could have been from the gas and bloated feeling. They will help you everyway they can with what ever meds you need. Just let the doctor or nurse know. I did not have any nausea.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
