What was your down time?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Congrats to all of you who are on your journey to being healthy! I am new to this site and I am currently researching the VSG procedure. Being that many of you have already completed the surgery, I was wondering how long did it take before you were able to return to work. I understand that everyone's healing process is different. I just wanted to get an idea for the amount of time needed for rest. I appreciate your input. Thanks!:crying:

Hi there!

I had my sleeve on Tuesday July 13th and I returned to work on Wednesday, July 28th. I took 2 weeks off because 2 colleagues who had the surgery went back after a week and ended up in the ER because they got dehydrated. I really wanted to give myself time to heal and time to get into a routine so that coming back to work wasn't such a big transition. I did get a little stir crazy but I was able to do laundry and light housecleaning by the end so that helped. I actually feel like I healed very quickly and with no complications because I followed doctors orders and gave myself some time.

Best of luck in your research, I'm 4 weeks out tomorrow and while it's not always easy at the beginning, it's definitely worth it!

I was out for 4 weeks, I tried going back after 2 but I was too tired and weak and still had incisional pain.

good luck to you:smile1:

I was out of the office for 1 full week. Then, I returned for 1.5 weeks of 1/2 days. That was a tremendous help - you get really tired due to the lack of calories and such. I truly felt like myself at about a month out - no need for a nap after work, etc.

Like you said, everyone is a little different. But 2 weeks or so should really do the trick. If you have to go back earlier, you can do it. Just be prepared for the low energy & don't plan a lot of after work activities.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
