helium... don't do it!!!

Recommended Posts

i was helping my aunt with her kids school registration by blowing up balloons with helium... to make the kids giggle i sucked some in and it was ok at first but about 10 minutes later i was in a bad way!! my stomach hurt sooo bad!! it eventually went away but this is just something i thought i would share for any new people and anyone looking into the sleeve!! spare yourself...

I would never have thought of that! My husband actually offered me some helium out of one of my "get well" balloons that I got after my surgery -- I am soooo glad I turned him down.

Huh... I had 6 get well balloons from surgery and when they were getting flat I sucked out helium and sang songs while my husband videotaped me... LOL.... I sucked a good 4 balloons full and I was ok. Then again nothing has bothered my tummy since surgery other than trying to take big Vitamin pills. We are all so different in how these things affect us!!

I can't see anything specifically about helium that would be contraindicated for lap sleevers.

That being said, hypoxia -- lack of oxygen, which helium inhalation can bring about -- can be fatal, so I'd still avoid inhaling too much of the stuff.

I had a good friend this year pass away from breathing in helium.. As Ouroborus stated its better to stay away from the stuff.

Helium blocks the capnic response and you will never feel the need to struggle for air. So be careful as too much can kill you.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
