OT? Restless Leg Syndrome and Tylenol PM

Recommended Posts

So, not really related to WLS, but for me, it kinda is.

The night before my surgery, I was a bit jittery so I took a generic Tylenol PM to help me sleep. I slept a while, but then woke up with what my husband calls "jimmy legs" or restless leg syndrome. Yesterday, I had a rough day, felt a headache coming on, so I decided to take a few more & just collapse. Again, jimmy legs. Only this time, I'm still having them today. Ugh! I did some research on Bing and found that others have had the same reaction & it can last a few days. Definitely not taking that again!

It's driving me nuts. I can't concentrate - I've taken a few walks around the ofice, but nothing is helping. :confused1: Any suggestions?

Weird to hear this. My mother suffers terribly from nervous legs but has never taken Tylenol PM (she gets the good stuff and doesn't need OTC). I however have started taking it in the last few months since I have always been a lousy sleeper. But it hasn't given me any problems. I will keep a watch out for it since I have had nervous legs before but usually related to a cramped space like an airplane. Thanks for the info!

I actually got a prescription for a pill that helps with restless legs... Let me know if you want the name. It works great

Since I haven't taken any more of the medicine, the effects seem to have worn off - very weird few days though.

I would love the name of the medication. I tend to get restless legs after a day of heavy leg workout or hard core cardio.....

Sometime just randomly....I've tried everything and occasionally take ambien, to knock me out....but if there is something for the legs i would so much perfer to ambien.

Wow can I relate to this. . I occasionally need to take Unisome to sleep a good sleep, but when i get into the bed, here comes that "wish i could tear off the legs and throw them away" feelings. . . man this lasts until i finally fall asleep. . .terrible, but I'd rather have a good sleep. . . cheers to all. . .

I take a prescription called Mirapex. it initially came out to treat Parkinson Diseasea, but s now FDA approved to treat restless legs. It is a lifesaver

. I take it at bedtime. I also take an extra dose before gettin on a plane or before going onlong car rides. If your primary care physician is not comfortable prescribing it, then go see a neurologist as this is their area of expertise.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
