WooHoo I've been Approved!!!

Recommended Posts

YeeeeHaaaaa!!! :clap2: I have been approved by my Insurance (Pacific Care & Memorial Care IPA) for a Lap-Band Procedure! I want to thank this site for helping me.:D I had originally been turned down for the Gastric-Bypass; what with my recent cancer history, they felt that the Bypass would be too invasive a procedure for me. I was disappointed. My weight actually delayed my Cancer treatment because we had to locate a RT table that would hold my for Radiation Therapy. :phanvan

My Surgeon, and his office (Dr LaPorte and the Orange County Obesity out of Fountain Valley Hospital in Fountain Valley,CA), would not let me be disappointed for long; they recommended that I work for the authorization for the Lap-Band. I did, but I had educated myself on the Gastric-Bypass - not the Lap-Band.

I found this site as I was researching the procedure ... and I am ever so glad that I did. :clap2: Many of the posts here helped me understand the procedure, the things I can look forward too, and what I should look out for as well (although, I am still looking for a definition of a fill - I haven't found that yet, but see it referred to alot);)

Again, thanks for this site - it's a Great Resource!!!

Hi Pat, Welcome to LBT. The definition of a "fill" is the saline that they inject into your band. My DW has the Vanguard band and it allegedly holds 10cc of saline. Her first fill was 6cc. As of the other day, she has had 4 fills and she is at something like 9.5cc. Right now she is on liquids, soon to be mushies, and then we'll see how she handles solids with that kind of restriction. Good luck!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
