Pre-surgery depression?

Recommended Posts

I've survived the pre-op diet. Insurance is paying. Surgery is in 2 days. I should be really happy but I'm not. I feel really blah. Does anyone else have this? Thoughts?

I have felt a little bit that way over the last week. I am getting sleeved on Thursday and it seems that lately I have been really tearful and not for any reason. I think it's normal though, we are about to do something that is truly lifechanging - lots to process.

Absolutely normal. I am one month out and even though I burp after EVERYTHING I eat, I am sooooo happy. I had major anxiety, depression, and even a week after the surgery I was questioning what I had done. This website seriously gave me so much support and lots of answers along with my doctor. I know the burping will also go away within the next couple of months and I will always have this wonderful feeling of being satisfied from less than a quarter of what I used to eat. Not to mention I am almost down 30 pounds already! Don't worry, go with it. I think everyone has had some kine of post or pre-op depression.

OK, it wasn't depression after all--it was hormones. I woke up this morning and Flo had come to town, if you get my meaning. I'm feeling much better!

Its all part of the greiving process, we are about to loose something that has been a big portion of our lives -- ie Addiction to food. Good luck on your surgery.:thumbup1:

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
