Do protein shakes count as liquid??

Recommended Posts

Yes that is how i got most of my liquid consumption after surgery to maintain my lean muscle mass and preserve metabolism. I drank Water based Protein Shakes instead of clear fluids and did great. They also give you the electrolytes, Protein and Vitamin requirements your body needs to fully heal :)

Yes - My nutritionist has me on 48 oz of fluids for my first week post surgery (which was 6/30). 24 oz comes from "shakes" and 24 oz comes from other fluids. I just throw in Crystal Light in my Water (I think it is called orange sunrise) and that's it. I also load up on SF popsicles - they are an easy way to get Fluid in and I asked the nutritionist if I should limit them - she said honestly, since the they are SF and are helping to keep hydrated, she didnt have an issue with them early on.

Any liquid is liquid! Even coffee, most people that are used to caffeine are not significantly dehydrated by moderate amounts of it. There's Water in foods, any drinks, it all counts. It is an absolute myth that it needs to be just plain water to count.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
