July 2006 Band Crew

Recommended Posts

Hey, it's been a while but I have just about done it! I am down to 166!!! I am not considered obese anymore, just overweight! Yea!!! I bought my first size 12 pants in 15 years!!! That was awesome. I seem to be at a standstill right now, but even if I never lose another lb. that will be okay. I have had some gastro intestinal problems, but I don't know if they are from getting banded or if I would have had them anyway? My worst problem is things getting stuck! I have had two unfills but it is still happening even though I have lost quite a bit of my "full" feeling. Yes, I chew, chew, chew, but unless I live off of Soup type food, it is making my stomach hurt and I pb for hours. Don't get me wrong, it's still better than being obese, but is this normal? Last night I ate some stir fry, and put it in a blender and it still got stuck. I pb'd for 2 hours! Tried to eat some ice cream thinking it would sooth my stomach and immediately pb'd it up too. It's so aggravating!

Congrats Karen!! That's great!! But, I don't think it's normal to continue getting stuff stuck. If I were you, I would immediately go on liquids for awhile...protein shakes, etc. and give your and a rest. Then ease into mushies and then food over a week's time. Sounds like you have irritation going on. If you are still experiencing problems, then you should see your doc or whoever has been filling you. You are too tight!! Remember, stress and if you have PB'd and thrown up, it can cause irritation which will continue if not taken care of. Let me know how it goes.

Checking in. I can NOT believe we are almost considered veterans of the band. At 14 months out, I am feeling so awesome.

I am however, frustrated that the last 20 are the hardest to take off. I try to convince myself that, this band for life, and so what if it takes another year to get to goal. It will stay off for a lifetime.

So, having said that, I am still just really impatient and wanting to call goal already. But I shall persist and continue to try to convince myself that I really love exercise. I'll keep trying.

Signing out.

I am ashamed I have not posted.

The maintanance is going great. I went down to 138 but am back up to 145. I am pleased. I get so busy, I just don't eat.

It is not healthy .

I have had my second part-time job at Walmart for about 8 weeks now. I love it. I groom during the day part-time also.

I love having all this energy but it is not leaving me as much time to sit in front of the puter.

I have made contact with a real live person (lol) in my town who was banded June 1 2007. She is really nice and we have really like each other. She is very busy with a part-time job and a mentally ill 35 years old daughter that live with her. So we talk once a week and enjoy it . I rode up with her to her last fill which amounted to 4 hours on the road so we have bonded and I think I have inspired her. She was making really bad food choices ...... I love this site but it is nice to really know someone who is like you. I think we will have a long freindship because of our band bond. She doesn't have a computer so she had nothing but those long distance calls to her doctor.

I am still walking about 2 miles a day. Sometimes more . It has turned fall here in Kentucky and it feels so good to walk in the sun and not get overheated.

your band sister,

edie

If anyone needs anything remember pm me , don't ask me anything on this thread I maynot ever see it.

Congrats to everyone! I have not had the time to do my fills and I guess that is my big problem. I went from 220 to 172 in about 6 months and didn't get a fill until I started to gain back weight. The fill didn't really do much. I gained more weight and went up to 194. Granted, I only had 2 fills this whole time and I am in the VG band which I understand you have to be a little more aggressive. I was embarrassed to go back to the doctor b/c of the weight gain, so I lost 14 pounds in the last month on a low carb/low calorie diet. I have an appointment to get an adjustment next Friday and hopefully I can get back on track. Currently, I have 5 cc in the large VG band and have little restriction right now. So, hopefully I will be re-committing myself to the band once again next week. I wish I could be a success story (by now) like everyone else here!

Born2lose, I see you as a tremendous success. Never feel 'embarrassed' to go to the doc. This is why we got the band in the first place, because we need help with our weight.

I was at a standstill for 6 months, just recently got a fill to 3.2 and am losing again. I am 9 pounds from goal and am ever so grateful for this surgery. I am feeling awesome.

Congrats, you look terrifIC!!! I did end up getting a fill and now I am up to 6cc in my 10cc band. I also lost 6 more pounds since my last post, So, I am down to 175...almost down to the same weight before I put a lot back on.

Paula: Just wanted to say that you deserve some applause and support to continue to get that last 6 lbs. off!! You've done fantastic.

I am still "stuck" somewhat at the same weight. I may have lost another lb. or 2 since Sept., but overall not really going anywhere.

I have been exercising though on a consistent basis. I may be getting a fill in a week or so. Not even sure if I need one at this point.

Anyways, let us know when you reach your goal!!

Thanks you guys.

I feel friggen fantastic. I hit the 100 pound mark today and I just can't even believe it.

Ready2bthin, I was stuck for 6 months. My last fill took me to 3.2 and that was what was needed to get things moving again. Good luck with your fill.

The thing that never ceases to amaze me is that with the band, it is possible.

4 to goal today........................................

Paula,

Well, you inspired me and thanks for the encouragement about being stuck and then getting another fill and finally breaking the plateau. I got a fill yesterday and I'm not totally sure what my total is but I do have restriction. Actually, while waiting in the office sipping on Water I felt like I had too much restriction. So, I drank some more and the gal looked at my pouch on xray and we could see the water just sitting in there....not going down...and then I threw up the water...so she took some of the fill out. I probably ended up with like .25, so according to my records I have approximately 3.05 ccs in my band which holds 4 ccs.

They said I had 2.1 and then with the fill taken out it would be like 1.76 cc. Well, that is impossible as I've had other fills totalling like 2.8. So, I'm thinking there is at least 3.0 in there. Anyway, hope this gets me "started" again. I really want to reach goal by my 2nd bandiversary in July.

Well, have a Merry Christmas ya'll!!

Good for you Born2Lose!! I am back on the bandwagon, too. I am down and am only ounces from onederland...FINALLY. I have gotten serious about exercise and correct eating since I joined a challenge with others off of this chat room site. We even have our own website with our pics and info and a new chat.

I've never seen the July 2006 group site before when looking on LapBand Talk. I was banded in Mexico 7/20/2006 by Dr. Rumbaut. I did very well with my weight loss at first and now have fallen back into the grazing and eating wrong things habit. I'm glad to see there are others who have done the same thing. I am ready to recommit myself to getting those pounds off.. I've lost 80 and still want to lose another 45 to 50. I'll be checking in here now that I know about it.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
