Hi everyone.. I have not been here to post in a long time but have been updating my weight and reading some great posts from others. I am 26 weeks out and have lost 92 pounds. The past 6 weeks or so I have been losing slowly, like a # a week or 2# a week but I have also been eating alot more and not paying too much attention to carbs or calories as long as the scale is moving and I'm "moving".. I feel pretty good. I am taking kickboxing, yoga and I work out at gym.. I try to work out 3-5x a week .. I also do some Water aerobics. I have gone from a tight size 26 to an 18 and can actually for the first time see a 14/16 being a possibility in my life.. :) WOW... NO WAY without sleeve this would've happened for me so I am thrilled!!

I have a question regarding hair loss. Mine has been going on for about 3mths now.. pretty substantial..and I think it's slowing down.. BUT... I was wondering for all of you who have been through this... when do you/ did you see new growth.. so far I'm not seeing any of that so I'm getting concerned. I have lost enough hair that you can see my hearing aides .. I used to look like I had a wig.. so much hair.... I know this is part of the journey and I expected it..but would love to have a light at the end of the tunnel for possibility of re-growth and new hair returning eventually.

Thanks for anyone who replies!

Chandra, congrats on your amazing results thus far.

My new growth was coming in before the shedding stopped. I used Folicure Extra care Shampoo every day when the shedding first started, and that seemed to help the new growth. I never did take Biotin on a consistent basis. I'd take it when I'd remember it.

I lost for about 3-3.5 months, but had new growth coming in around the 2nd month of shedding. I first noticed them around the hairline, you know those little baby hairs around the forehead. That's where the new growth started, and then I noticed it along my part.

Hang in there, it'll come back. My hair is still not back to where it was pre-op, and I don't foresee it getting back for at least a year or two.

I don't have personal experience with this yet but I've read the boards, watched a lot of youtube videos etc so just wanted to tell you that the consensus seems to be - it starts around 3-4 months out, and ends around 7-8 months out, with hair back to more normal thickness around a year. I am sure this varies from person to person but this is the average experience I have heard from everyone.

I just hit the 3 month point and have started watching for any Hair loss. I have very thick hair and always seem to be shedding a little normally, so will be curious to see what happens.

So has everybody started losing hair at about 3 months after surgery? I've been wondering about this. I thought I started losing hair quicker than that with the band. Like at about 6 weeks. I am so dreading it! Does anybody get away without losing hair in super noticable amounts?

Do you think the sleeve allows for better nutrition than the band? Maybe, hopefully, that will make a difference.

I have been trying to be good with the Vitamins. Have been doing prenatals thinking that would be even better than just a regular daily Vitamin.

My primary is running labs for me in about 2 weeks. Guess I will find out a few answers then. I know my Iron is doing great - had it checked when I donated blood the other day.

Crossing my fingers for sure!

Yeah, I've been trying to be good with the Vitamins too. I have a sneaking suspicion that the Calcium chewables I'm taking are causing the Constipation (hope that's not too much info) so I'm beginning to slack on that.

I've increased my food intake a little and am finding that I dislike the feeling afterwards. This morning I had 2 poached eggs and half a piece of toast. Too much! It doesn't hurt but it's just not comfortable. I seem to keep forgetting that I can have something as often as I want it. I don't have to confine my meals to 3 a day with no Snacks. This is sure going to take some time getting myself retrained! How are you doing in that department?

Well I am at 5 months out and not only is my hair not thinning one bit, but I have more hair everywhere else than I ever wanted...LOL! I was just telling my doctors office and they said it depends on the individual and their Vitamins and nutrition during the weight loss.

My hair loss was the most between 4-9 months. I know I was not deficient in Protein, but I did find out I was anemic, which can also cause Hair loss.< /strong>

I think I started to see tiny hairs coming in at 7 months and they are all over the place now. My hair loss slowed down at 9 months but I still lose a little bit even 1 yr post op . I sometimes wonder if it will ever stop falling out.

I graze all day. I just can not eat fast or it is definitely uncomfortable. So long as I am still losing, I am just not worried about it. It is hard not to compare yourself to others. I just cannot eat more than 2 ounces, and maybe 3 at the most, depending on what it is. I am only hungry if I go a long time between meals.

I got busted at lunch today with a couple of girlfriends. You sure aren't eating very much! Fine. Here's the story ... lol

Did you lose really quickly? I wonder why you became anemic, do you know or have they suggested what caused it?

Do you take Biotin? That's what stopped my hair loss after the band surgery. I thought I was going to go bald on top until someone told me to start taking Biotin. After a very short period of time it stopped falling out. Could have been a coincidence, I guess, but it sure SEEMED to work.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
