Product Review- Thomas Bagel Thins, Arnold Sandwich Thins

Recommended Posts

I know many avoid bread or other similar products, but I thought I would share my review of the Thomas bagel thins and Arnold's sandwich thins. I know there are others out here that do not completely avoid breads and other options on their meal plans.

They don't taste like Bagels at all. But, I absolutely love them. They have several varieties and flavors. I picked up the "everything" flavored bagel thins and the 100% whole wheat sandwich thins.

I can only eat 1 thin toasted with some cream cheese, or I pop them under the broiler with some turkey deli meat and a slice of thin cheese. For me, it's a great alternative to bread. I will probably try soft poaching an egg white and make a sandwich out of them with a little avocado mayo mixture I conjured up a couple weeks ago. Even egg salad sounds yummy on these LOL.

I plan on making some mini pizzas out of them tomorrow for an after school snack for my kiddo and get his opinion. I quit buying pre-packaged/frozen stuff and started experimenting with different options that I could control the ingredients and nutritional value. pizza sauce, turkey pepperoni or some canadian bacon, turkey bacon and some cheese under the broiler for a few minutes.

Both products offer 5 grams of Protein per slice.

Pepperidge Farm and Orowheat also have similar products, but I grabbed the ones that were on sale this past week.

Here's some recipe ideas from the Arnold's website as well.

Arnold Bread - Sandwich Thins? - Tasty Sandwiches

For those that like to use WW points, each thin only counts as 1 point for both products from what I have found on the net.

Just thought I would share.

Thanks Tiffy, I bought these last week, but I am not ready to eat them yet. They look great though and I keep trying to get my husband to eat them, because I so want them!

When you talk about a slice (or that you ate "1"), do you mean half a bagel/thin (1 piece) , or both sides of the bagel? I just was curious.

Thanks for all your great recipes, etc.

Just one thin or half of a sandwich made from 2 of the thins. There is no way I could get 2 of the thins down. I have to eat any bread product super slow. Well except for chips, soft or hard pretzels, and crackers go down great, and are definitely sliders for me now.

I hope you can try them out soon. They are a really nice alternative to sliced bread. I wish they would come out with a pumpernickel flavor because I have been craving pumpernickel bread for about 2 weeks now.

gotcha. I figured it was one. I imagine it would take me an entire day to eat two! I am so nervous to eat any bread, tortillas, rice, etc. Not sure why. I bet I could handle a small piece toasted. I need to figure out what to eat Peanut Butter on. I miss it and it would be a great Protein for me.

I ate pb on reduced fat wheat thins when I first started adding more carbs into my diet.

If you are cleared for raw fruits/veggies, believe it or not, granny smith or golden delicious apples are fabulous with PB. I avoid raw celery because it's stringy, and I feel it lingers around in my stomach. My kiddo likes carrots, bananas, apples, and pears with a little Peanut Butter. I avoid bananas, and carrots, but you could try those if you're able to eat those at this point.

I also eat PB on Triscuit whole grain wheat thins. I'm super weird, and love Cheez Its with PB also. I know that's a little crazy, but it really tastes good. I also eat Cheez It crackers with grapes.

Sounds great to me, Tiff.

Another absolutely "poisonous" delicious treat is the flat pretzels at Sams. They look like they have been ironed, very, very flat and so crispy. Not too much salt. YUMMY. But beware, they are like fritos. You must have strong willpower to not over eat them.

I have had company for a week and did eat some bread, today had two bites of a bagel with cream cheese, a Tomato slice, and smoked salmon on top . Two bites and I was full. Can't really do too much bread, it's so filling.

Although I enjoyed a few treats over the week, I still lost 2 lbs. Hooray! Am in size 16 jeans now, 14 top. My favorites jeans are from goodwill. Feelin' good and my family is so impressed!

You fricken rock ! ! ! I'll have to check those out because I LOVE pretzels.

Some bready stuff are completely sliders for me now. Others not so much.

I like the bagel chips as well with dips or cream cheese.< /span>

You'll love them, Tiff. Since you are well below target, you can afford to enjoy them as much as you want! They are incredible! Sounds like you are "skinny as a pretzel"!

LOL, I'm holding steady at 123lbs. I'll have to search them out. I'm snacking so much it's ridiculous. I'm up to eating 7 meals/snacks a day. I am seriously tired of eating.

I've gotten off my cheez-its and now on the garlic bagel crisp with cream cheese...trying to do something with more protein...I would choose to skip meals to eat those cheez-its!

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣
