Broccoli not friendly!

Recommended Posts

Ooooooooo! Just ate some very soft, tender broccoli for lunch. Kept it down but it kept wanting to slide back up! This is my first time to try broccoli since my sleeve - it will be awhile before I try again. Weird!

Was it cooked? It must be cooked very well when you're newly sleeved.

:lol0:had this exact same thing happen to me with green peas and carrots! Tummy was reacting like a kid who hates vegatables. . .came up in a slime ball. . . broccoli doesn't sit well with me either, brussel sprouts are great, so is eggplant and peeled tomatoes, pickles are good too. . . :crying:

Will this change w/time?

Broccoli is about the most "good for me" vegetable that I actually LIKE. I think eggplant and squash are disgusting.

Hopefully this is just a temporary thing! Or maybe I can put it in a blender...

Ewwww! Bless your heart!!!! I'm so sorry you had to deal with that! I have wondered what sleevers would have happen with broccoli because like ouroborous, there aren't many veggies that I actually like. Brocolli, purple hull peas, salads and hominy are pretty much it so I don't know what I would eat after having the sleeve if those are problem foods. Maybe give it a few more weeks and try again. Is this the first time you've had something like that happen? Hope ya dont have to deal with it anymore because it does not sound like it was fun!! Ugh, you poor thing!!

I eat broccoli just fine. I eat it raw and cooked. I couldn't when I was first sleeved though.

Every body is different, yours might not reject broccoli, but you'll find out what you like and don't like. . . broccoli for me is "if it's there good, if not then good too" couldn't care less about broccoli. . . now my gross vegatable is hominy! That is just not normal!:lol0:

Broccoli didn't work for me the first time I tried it either, but now I can eat it like a champ. I only eat the top of the florets none of the stems. I usually eat it steamed or in a casserole so it's always super soft.

My friend was talking about having broccoli and cheese with dinner the other night and I thought "OOOOOhhhh, that sounds good!" Haven't had broccoli since surgery and I'm not sure why, because we used to have it all the time and I've had all kinds of other cooked veggies since, and raw lettuce, with no problem. Well, I kinda forgot about it for a few days....

....and then when I saw this thread this morning, I asked my hubby to cook some broccoli with the pork chops tonight (I don't get home from work until almost 8:00 three nights a week so he cooks those nights). I was so excited... I ate my little bites of pork chop until I was almost full, then had maybe a quarter cup of broccoli with Olivio spray on it. Tasted soooo good...

....until about 20 minutes later when my stomach went "Oh no you di'ent," and up came ALL the broccoli... not just a little bit like has happened before when I've eaten too fast. So I think it was the broccoli that did it! Dang it, all this time I've been thinking I didn't have any problem foods LOL. Anyway, you're not the only one! :scared0:

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
