Ok on my way to Mexicali tomorrow! Revision band to sleeve surgery on Monday April the 5th. I have so many things swimming around in this pretty little head of mine. One question I have for people that have had the revision from band to sleeve is about post op. I still follow all the band rules and I have been for over a year and no longer have head hungry issues does that start over again with the sleeve?? Do you believe that having the band has given you a head start??

I think those are the only 2 questions I have right now. Just excited to finish what I have started.:thumbup1:

Kathy!

Its almost here I am so excited for you. Its great too that you have some of the fear of the unknown out of the way having done your preops etc. I don't have any answers to your questions, just prayers and good thoughts your way. Aside from the things you need to do like walking and sipping, let them take care of you. Your body really does go through a lot and its nice to be able to focus on the little things. Good luck and feel free to text me if you need someone to chat with. I got pretty lonely at times!

" I still follow all the band rules and I have been for over a year and no longer have head hungry issues does that start over again with the sleeve?? "

I was sleeved 2 weeks ago. I was un-banded a few months ago and fell right back into old habits. I don't honestly feel like I have any more head hunger than when I started. In fact my recovery over the band is far better. This time though I take my pain meds very regularly and even if I don't feel like walikng outside I'll pace my house for 15-20 mins.

All the best tommorrow. Just do what your DR says and you'll fare fine.

How long were you on Clear liquids, Karen? Or are you still on them?

What kind of pain meds are you on? I didn't take anything for pain with the band when I got home and I only stayed in the hospital one night. Everyone says the sleeve is easier but it sounds like it takes longer to recover with the sleeve. I was nearly normal after one week with the sleeve.

Good luck you peeps who are headed for Mexicali this week!

Kathy, good luck tomorrow, you will do great. I was a band to sleeve revision and can honestly tell you I had no issues with head hunger at all. In fact, I never thought about food. Even now, at one year out, I still don't experience hunger and have to force myself to eat sometimes.

Hope you are doing OK. Hopefully there isn't a lot of damage due to the earthquake.

I was not there yet. I live so close that I was going later tonight. I own a bar and a tv fell off and a lot of liquor bottles but no damage to the building. I live about 50 miles from the center. They canceled my surgery for tomorrow for now but told me to stay by the phone.

Keep us posted. What a crazy thing to have happen just before you go.

Kathy,

I hope you stay safe. I read online that there were some landslides and some highways are impassable. Let us know what you are hearing about how things look in the area. Have you heard back about rescheduling your surgery? Almater was on generator power according to another poster...how scarey!

Kathy, I hope you are doing well. As a band to sleeve patient, I honestly feel like I had a better understanding of eating, and drinking post-op. I had my fair share of issues, but I never dealt with head hunger, or real hunger for that matter post-sleeve. I feel like I had the learning curve pretty much beat because of the band experience.

Best wishes for a smooth recovery, and post when you are able.

Still have not heard back from Nina yet about when my surgery is going to happen. I hope everything is ok down there. Will let everyone know when I get there. I know of a few that were there when it happened and have not heard from them yet.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
