I just had a Tummy Tuck and breast reduction. It was the right choice for me. I had already had one breast reduction prior to WLS, but I wore a 34GG prior to surgery. Ridonkulous. After I got within 10 lbs of my goal, I was still at a 34F, and I went in to consult for the tummy tuck with 3 surgeons. They ALL said, after the tummy tuck, my breasts would look EVEN bigger, and suggested that I do another breast reduction. I did both at the same time. I am only two weeks out, and my breasts still have so much swelling, you kind of have "armpit" boobs from the swelling, but my hubbie thinks they are FAB! I have not bought a bra yet, but my guess is I will be a 34 C or D, which is good for my frame. For me, it's the tummy tuck really made me feel the best. I actually have a waist for the first time in 25 years. I was used to big, saggy boobs. But, I do not miss that apron! I just might tuck in a shirt this fall? It is tough, but for me, it was the right decision.

I never really thought about doing anything to my face, but it actually looks older since I have lost weight. Too bad, I couldn't have held onto just a pound or two above my shoulders! I am not saying I wouldn't do something for this, but not today.

I kind of felt like maybe to do MORE surgery was not really appreciating the weight loss, but now that it is behind me, I am glad I went through it.

Today I am 10 mos and 1 day out of surgery. I've lost most of my excess, having 20 lbs to go to goal. I am losing slowwwwly at this point, but heh, still getting there.

I think it is time. Somewhere at work my husband must be sensing this and he is jumping up and down. He has been encouraging me. He actually wants to pick out the boobs but I really think we have different ideas about the boobs. I want petite, high, round, tight and he I think wants implants. NO MORE BIG BOOBS FOR ME. I want to have a day or two in my life or heh, the rest of my life, where I can not wear a bra and look decent and not like my nipples are dangling around my waist. lol

I sent inquiry to local surgeon referred to me by another VSG survivor. I read about the body lift often performed on weight loss surgery clients. WOW. It pretty much covers from my thighs to my breasts. I like that. I will be very scared though I'm sure. But I like the idea of one recovery, one big bill to pay, and looking good on my summer vacation.

I have NEVER had cute boobs. They are big, and they hang. I have never worn a cute neglaje' (see, I don't even know how to spell it!).

I think THIS surgery though, I will keep a little quieter. I wasn't shy about the VSG but I dunno...kinda regret that. So this one I'll tell just people very close to me.

Could I possibly look good naked?

I couldn't imagine getting this surgery a year ago, but heh, I'm going on a cruise and my butt is sagging for the first time in my life. My watermelons have melted into some sort of healthy zucchinis, and my tummy still has a cottage cheese roll on the bottom. I AM GAME!

I guess I have to pay for it, but what else is new? I had to pay for VSG too. Such a shame I don't fit the profile, ever, for a free ride. WHY IS THAT?.

I'm 49 and had a boob job 30 yrs ago, when I was young and skinny and flat as a pancake. When I gained weight I gained everywhere and my boobs got even bigger. Now, at my age and with all my weight lost, they are not flat, but the fullness I enjoyed when I was fat is gone. And of course, the skin is now so loose that they look like 2 deflated balloons if I lean all the way over at the waist. NOT a pretty sight!

Mostly because I just need to get new ones because of how old they are, but also because I need a bit larger size to fill out my skin, I'm planning on getting them replaced later this year when my daughter graduates from college and we're not helping with tuition and rent anymore (that's right, I'm keeping a positive attitude that she'll be able to get a job with majors in History and Sociology - ha!). If I were younger, the skin might have shrunk back more, but at this point it ain't gonna happen. So by next fall I'll be boob - a - licious again!

I may do something about the loose skin on my neck in a few years - right now it doesn't bother me too much.

My boobs are going to be the last to go, I think. My butt is pretty much gone but my boobs are still too big to suit me. Ugh.

The only plastic surgery I plan on is a lower face lift to get rid of my turkey neck and the lines on the sides of my mouth. I traded my double chin for a saggy neck and I don't like it one bit!!

I have no idea what my boobs will look like at goal weight (150) as I think I was that weight when I was a teenager and barely had anything!! My husband wishes I could have my pregnancy boobs forever and was so sad when they shrunk back down after breastfeeding stopped so I'm scared to see what they'll look like if/when I get to goal. He's all for me having breast implants/surgery, but I don't love surgery so I'm not too keen on the idea. Guess I'll be praying to the boobie gods to keep me where I'm at!!! :)

Has anyone had plastics recently? I'm looking into it and would love to hear good, bad and ugly stories about what you had done and where.

Can anyone who had a breast reduction and/or lift done prior to WLS comment on how their breasts have survived? I had a reduction and lift several years ago and they made it through pregnancy unscathed - but I didn't breast feed. Now, I'm wondering how they might look after the weight loss.

I would like to know this as well Mary. I had a reduction about 10 years ago - from a 38F to a 38D. Am about a 38DD now but don't want to lose it all, adn the threat of the dreaded "sag" terrifies me. That's why I didn't go smaller during the reduction...

I never made it to goal, but close. i have been at the same weight for about a year. the 2 areas that really bothered me were my arms and my tummy. I had the TT last month and now working on when Ill have the arms done. Most likely it will be january as the TT set me back a bit and Ill have to save a little for the arms and January is the best time for work!

Thanks for sharing this! Sounds just like my plan!

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
