AGH! Hair Loss Starting!

Recommended Posts

Hi to all my friends!

Well, almost 4 months to the date, my hair is starting to fall out! I was hoping to avioid this problem. Anyway, I noticed about a week ago, that I was shedding. Just washed and dried my hair, and when I run my fingers through it, I get 5 -6 pieces at a time. I have a nice little pile next to me! :scared0:

OK....I can deal with this...maybe. I've been taking all my Vitamins and even started taking Healthy Hair Skin & Nails way before my surgery. Guess I will try adding some extra Protein Shakes to my diet.

Well, at least it gets me talking to my sleeve friends again!

Tiff, Chancie and Dee, you look wonderful!

Hugs,

JoAnne

I'm 6 months out and the Hair loss was huge around the 3 month mark. My hair is still shedding but significantly less. I am taking Biotin 2000 mgs. and Evening Primrose Oil. My hair was so thick pre surgery and now it is so thin you can see scalp through it! I am confident it will grow again especially with the summer months ahead. If not I'm thinking of filling it in with hair extensions or just wearing a wig that mimics my natural hair.

Awwwwwwww Joanne, I'm so glad you posted. I hated the hairloss phase, but my hair is growing back with a vengeance at this point. I used Folicure extra care Shampoo to help with the regrowth. I honestly think it helped because I was getting new growth within a month to 6 weeks.

Hope you are doing well other than the Hair loss ! ! !

Tiff... Where did you buy this Shampoo? I was thinking about buying some Nioxin to be preemptive (lost hair after my last two surgeries), but wasn't too sure. Seems like things are ok thus far, but as you know, 3 months seems to be a magic mark in time for the hairloss...

I purchased Folicure at my local Sally's Beauty Supply. It was less then $5.00 for a bottle. It does help make your hair look and feel fuller. This is a good thing since everytime I wash it, I have more and more coming out. Everyone says you won't go bald, and it will grow back. I'm just thankful that I've lost half of my weight, but I still have a long way to go. Need to get outside and start walking now that the weather is beginning to get nice.

Hugs to All!

Are you taking Multivitamins, Calcium, Iron, and Biotin every day? All of these should help. Also, how much Protein are you getting in per day? Getting enough seems to help as well. Been through this "losing the hair after gastric surgery" twice now, and things are progressing FAR better for me this time, with getting in more Protein AND the Iron and Biotin. I have read Zinc and Magnesium are supposed to be helpful with this too, so I take them as well. (It's quite a pile of pills I down throughout the day.)

Best to you! :confused1:

I'm getting in my Protein and pile of vitimans. I'm even taking an Omega 3 on top of all the others. I know it's only a temporary thing (I hope). Thank goodness for all the support this forum offers!

Hugs,

JoAnne

I shave my head regulary so losing hair would not be an issue with me however all these pills your talking about scare me. I had throat cancer and pills do not go down well with me and I was told with the Sleeve that all you needed was the Protein and a really good multi-Vitamin?

John

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
