Ok.. I'm almost 4 weeks out.. amazing that I'm saying that.. tomorrow I do my week 4 weigh in.. I have lost 27.. hopefully more and I'm not complaining by any means but did any of you remember feeling mushy or flabby?? I'm going to add weight lifting in this coming week but am surprised at how "soft" I feel suddenly.... fat was firm.. if that makes sense...

feedback?

Thanks,

~Chandra/shutterbug

Makes complete sense to me. I'm flabby, and soft, but I can feel bones that I couldn't feel before so in my weird, skewed thinking, I'll take a bit mushy to feel/see collarbones/shoulderblades/ribs and hip bones.

I'm going to try to get back to the gym tomorrow, and get back to my strength training program. Our vacation to WV for Thanksgiving, and the blood clot in my leg really kicked me out of my regimen.

My problem areas are my tummy and arms. Well and the saggy boobs.

I totally understand what you are saying. I do feel that exercising is really helping me. I remember it hit me a couple months post-op, when I looked in the mirror and saw my flabby thighs and wondered to myself, how am I ever going to wear a swimsuit again? I mean my fat was firm, but this??? Now just last week I noticed that areas of my body I have been working hard, my outer thighs and calves, are starting to look so much better. My spare tire is almost gone, I can even bend over naked and my stomach doesn't pooch out, but kind of goes in (now don't get me wrong, there is A LOT of fat there still). The point is, I think with either time and/or exercise we can improve some areas somewhat.

Now, my bat wings will probably always be there, and my inner thighs look very scary...lots of hanging skin that is a lot darker in color. BUT I'd rather be soft and cover it up than fat:-) I think your weight lifting will help tremendously. Good luck!

I think I heard that it might take up to 6 mos after you lose all the weight for your skin to catch up and bounce back. Of course, genetics and age play a big factor too, and you guys are all pretty young. I know my bat wings are not going to bounce back and either are my boobies..but I will take that any day over a size 24. Did I tell you I bought my first size 14s and they are already starting to sag in the butt..yes, I have no butt either. :scared0:

i'm down 73 pounds so i know about flabby and i have a 100 more to go! ECK! i'm already saving for thigh lift and Tummy Tuck. just don't seem far to be thin and see loose skin swaying every where. clothing can only do so much.

Thanks ladies! I will be fighting the flab for sure but was just so surprised at how much my muscle tone or "tight, firm.. fat" has changed. I am enjoying my appearance more so it's a trade off! I will be healthier so THAT makes this a no-brainer for being a good trade off!

Have a nice night!

So I am pre-op, and will be having my surgery on 1/5/10. I was curious as to if I keep a steady workout throughout my weight loss journey will I have a chance at less flab? My thighs have always been huge so I am really worried, and I'm not sure I can afford any plastic surgery, but if I could what would be a round about amount for a Tummy Tuck, breast lift, or thigh lift? Any advice on avoiding extra flab would be greatly appreciated!!

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
