Congrats! I just got my date about two weeks ago (Jan. 4) and it's so crazy...before it was scheduled it was almost like "Yeah, I wanna do this, but who knows" but now it's a reality! Isn't it a great feeling?! :biggrin0:

I remember that feeling of being so excited and kind of nervous too. I said over and over I felt like I was on an emotional rollercoaster ride. Well, Just hang on because the ride only gets more exciting and more nervous the closer you get to your date. The closest thing to feeling like that was when I had my first child. And just like everyone told me on here, "It will be here before you know it". Time really goes by fast. What do you have to do on your pre-op diet? I wish you all the best!!

I had my surgery 1 week ago on Dec.2 and I am doing ok except had some problems with alot of nausea, but it will be worth all of it. Please post some pictures if you haven't already, I will be looking for "Lauren's photos" soon.

hi everyone :sneaky2:

so my mom and i officially put down our deposits for the surgery with dr. almanzo...but recently there have been a lot of posts about people getting bad infections...im starting to get really freaked out :S i work at a walk - in clinic, and my mom used to work at a hospital so both of us know how to change dressings and such so i plan on bringing a box of doctors gloves, basic first aid kit and basic materials to change dressings to help prevent infections...is there anything else i should bring? am i making a mistake by going to this doctor? before this outbreak of infections i only heard good things about him but now i am scared :S

My date changed to the 14th. So it looks like we will be getting it done around the same time! How exciting. I will be on the other side of the world in Korea. Good luck!

Lauren: Iam apatient of Dr. Almanza"s. I am perfectly fine. I am very happy with his/emmunal clinics care. You are taking the right precautions. Infections happen anywhere you have surgery. I have been following the posts about Emmunal clinic and frankly I do not know if they are true at all. At first I was afraid to reccomend, but, now that some of them have been proven false, well, I just have to go back to my own experience. Now, this is not to say there are not complications that can and do happen from surgery. Just do your research and be confident you are doing what is right for your life. I am so happy for you to be able tp get this life changing surgery at such a young age. You will not have the life time weight battle to go thru. Maybe it will save your joints! Not a concern for you right now, but, someday it will be. This surgery is all about the somedays to come. God bless, and go get the surgery with Dr. A. You can call the clinic and get reports from them or your patient co-ordinator, then come on here and ask questions about what you are being told.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
