Vitamin Requirements

Recommended Posts

Can yall share some info that your individual docs/nutritionists gave you regarding daily requirements? Calcium? What about Iron? I'm currently taking Flintstones but have been trouble finding specific VSG requirements, are they the same as Gastric Bypass requirements? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks yall!!

I take an 2 adult chewable multi-vitamins and 2500 mcg B-12 every morning. I don't take any Calcium or Iron supplements - my labs showed all those levels were well within the normal range. Should that change, then I will add those supplements in as well. I know there are Vitamins available (from Baritatric Advantage, I think) specifically geared toward those who have had WLS. I'm sure others will have more ideas for you as well.

My surgeon's protocol says 2 Multivitamins with Iron daily, 1000 mg calcium citrate, and B12 if needed.

I use GNC Solotron chewable Multivitamin with highly bioavailable Iron, they are super yummy. I have 1 in the morning, and 1 at night. I do take 2500mcg of sublingual B12. I have yet to find a calcium citrate supplement that I can tolerate, and my levels have been fine. I will start taking Calcium citrate when I can find one I like. Because even those my calcium levels have been fine on my blood work, osteoporosis runs in my family especially on my mother's side. Therefore due to the Prilosec usage, I will start supplementing with some form of calcium citrate in the near future. Bone scans/Dexa scans are the only way to truly measure bone density, and I'm too young for my insurance to cover that specific test. I don't want to rush osteoporosis.

Is there anything wrong with the Viactive Calcium? Those seem to taste pretty good, but I haven't seen anyone who says they take that.

Does any one heard of taking Biotin to prevent Hair loss? If so, how much do you take? I also heard 2500 IUs of Vitamin A helps. Has anyone tried either of these?

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
